Hoo Boy: Josh Shapiro Has the Perfect Question for Kamala After She Disses Him in Her Book

I keep saying I'm not sure what Kamala Harris was thinking, given what she has written in her book.

But if she wrote the memoir in an effort to explain herself and prepare for a run again in the future, she's truly put her foot in it. It comes across as a whiny exercise on how everyone failed her. The Biden team wouldn't support her. She couldn't pick Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, even though he was her first choice, because he was gay and she thought the American people might not back such a ticket. Translation: so she rejected the guy she thought was best because he was gay.

Now there's the excerpt on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and his response.

Recall she rejected Shapiro as a running mate at a time when he was angering some on the left with his position on Gaza (let's talk about that big antisemitic thing on the radical left). Choosing him might have given her a better shot in Pennsylvania, yet she passed on him - and/or he passed on her.

But they didn't click after she thought he was focused on the trappings of the position and would want to be very involved.

The governor’s remarks followed fresh excerpts from Harris’s forthcoming memoir, “107 Days,” which depict Shapiro as unusually focused on the trappings of the vice presidency during vetting — including asking how many bedrooms are in the Naval Observatory residence and whether the Smithsonian would lend Pennsylvania art to display.

Harris also wrote that she considered him likely to want to be “in the room for every decision.”

A Shapiro spokesperson, Manuel Bonder, called those claims “simply ridiculous,” saying the governor was focused on defeating the eventual winner, President Donald Trump, and campaigned hard for the ticket.

I thought Kamala was fond of saying how she was part of all the major Biden decisions? So this sounds like it wasn't the real reason.

If she thinks this is going to go over well with folks on the left, not so much. Now Shapiro is firing back, and he has a great question for her.

Shapiro told Stephen A. Smith on his Sirius XM show that he hadn't read Kamala's book, but she would have to answer for “how she was in the room [with Joe Biden] and yet never said anything publicly.”

“I can tell you that I wasn’t in the room, but when I was confronted with engaging with the former president, in looking at it simply from the perspective of, how is he doing in Pennsylvania? Could he win Pennsylvania? Because, I think, Stephen, you understand, if you can’t win Pennsylvania, it’s pretty darn hard to win the national election,” Shapiro continued. “And I was very vocal with him, privately, and extremely vocal with his staff about my concerns about his fitness to be able to run for another term. I was direct with them. I told them my concerns.”

Oof. If that's true, she is going to have to answer for why she didn't come clean on Biden. If she couldn't be straight about Biden's cognitive issues when it was so important before, why should any voter trust her on anything in the future?

But it sounds like she's doing a great job making enemies of all the other Democratic candidates and hurting them, too, in the process. So please keep up the slap fights with other Democrats.

In a Harris debate with presumed candidates Shapiro and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, those two aren't going to hold back, and things would not go well for her.
