Newsom Press Office in Hot Water After Post on Kristi Noem Referred for Investigation to Secret Service

In the immediate aftermath of the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk on September 10, some Democrats condemned it and talked about bringing down the temperature.

But, they have continued to stoke the flames, continued to demonize people on the right. We saw that 58 Democrats couldn't even find the basic decency to approve a resolution to honor Kirk and condemn political violence. During floor discussion of the resolution, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) chose to use that moment to slander Kirk.

Former Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin blasted AOC, explaining this was a window into why the Democrats are failing.

Then, California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom's Press Office, which has shown it doesn't have a lot of sense, decided to play "Hold my beer."

After the Kirk assassination, an armed man being detained at the Kirk memorial site, a shooting at the ABC TV station in Sacramento, and the actions against ICE, this is what the Press Office decided to post about Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem.

Many, understandably, thought that could be a threat, given the climate.

Acting U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli said on Saturday that he is referring it to the Secret Service and requesting a "full threat assessment."

"We have zero tolerance for direct or implict threats against government officials," Essayli said.

Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin called the post "ugly."

"Your keyboard warrior team may hide behind their laptops and spew this kind of vitriol but you would never have the guts to say this to her face," McLaughlin said.

The Secret Service responded.

Noem said during a speech in Iowa that her husband, her daughter, and others communicated with her to ask if she was okay because people were concerned after the post.

I'm think the folks behind that Press Office account are not having a "good day" right about now.

After the huge backlash to the post, some hours later, the Press Office account posted about legislation that they claimed was aimed at "protecting immigrant communities" that would "hold Trump accountable."

Included in that legislation is a prohibition against law enforcement wearing masks - clearly aimed at unmasking federal agents. Given that the federal agents are being doxxed and threatened (which is why they're wearing masks), this legislation also could pose a threat to them from the people threatening to harm them.

If Newsom's office thinks this cleans up their first post, it doesn't. Funny that they're going after law enforcement, but they have no issue with Antifa or the anti-ICE folks wearing masks.

Also, if Newsom thinks this behavior will get him to the White House, he's living in a delusion.
