We have now had a second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
We reported earlier on the press conference and the person who has been identified as the suspect.
There are a ton of questions about how he could get that close with a rifle and what has to change to harden up his protection.
It was fortunate that the Secret Service agent was able to spot a muzzle through a fence in shrubbery. Talk about a good eye, but it should never have been that close. It was also fortunate there was a witness who got the license plate of the alleged suspect.

But you immediately had bad takes from the left and liberal media, as our friends at our sister site Townhall noted.
Let's listen to MSNBC's take on this as they talk about whether the Trump campaign should be toning down the rhetoric. This is pretty shameful.
WATCH: MSNBC's Alex Witt argues *the Trump campaign* needs to turn down the rhetoric now that Donald Trump has been shot at for the second time in three months.

"Do you expect there to be calls from within the Trump campaign to [tone it down]?"
Elise Jordan replies she hopes… pic.twitter.com/NGjxqIsTPR
It isn't Trump demonizing himself, it's the left calling him Hitler. It's Joe Biden and Kamala Harris calling him a threat to democracy. What about calling on them to stop? What about calling on MSNBC's own network people to stop their rhetoric against Trump?
Then she seemed to try to use it to attack AR weapons.
WHAT?!

MSNBC's Alex Witt asks former Secret Service agent if a "AR-style weapon" means the Secret Service has more of a reason to engage a suspicious person versus any other type of gun.
Thankfully, the guest informs her without losing her mind that "a bullet is a bullet" pic.twitter.com/VUXtwgk68S
Um, no, it's because it was a gun that they were concerned, and it reportedly happened to be an AK-47.
Then there's Lester Holt, who tries to hook it up to the discussion about Springfield, Ohio.
NBC's Lester Holt: "Today's apparent assassination attempt comes amid increasingly fierce rhetoric on the campaign trail. Mr. Trump, his running mate JD Vance continue to make baseless claims about Haitian immigrants" in Springfield, Ohio, resulting in bomb threats. pic.twitter.com/apw9WQ1liR

Then on top of that were the leftist takes that are so bad you wonder what's wrong with these people.
No ears were harmed. Carry on with your Sunday afternoon.

This was put up and then protected.

That person then changed tune and said Trump wasn't shot.
Just vile.
