SHOTS FIRED: Second Assassination Attempt of Trump at Palm Beach Golf Course; Campaign Reports He Is Safe

The Secret Service states that former President Donald Trump is safe, after being evacuated from his Trump West Palm Baech golf course in Florida, after shots were fired in the area.

Donald Trump is "safe following gunshots in his vicinity", his campaign has said in a statement.

It says no further details are available.

It is currently unclear where Mr Trump is.

However, the Washington Post and other outlets are reporting the incident took place near Mr Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

"President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time," the statement says.

The Secret Service has released a statement:

Live coverage indicated that an AK-47 --pattern rifle was found on the site, and a Secret Service drone captured footage of at least one shooter, and had also captured the shooter entering a car. As of this writing, it is unclear whether the vehicle or the shooter has been identified.

At least one witness saw police officers deploying after the event.

A witness says he says he saw "20 or more cop cars flying from nearby streets" as he described the emergency response outside Donald Trump's Florida golf course.

"From what I saw, five black unmarked SUVs blocked in a grey Mercedes in front of the golf course," Max Egusquiza, of Palm Beach, told the AP news agency.

"There were about 20 or more cop cars flying from nearby streets," he said.
