Operation Dump Biden Goes Into High Gear—What Pelosi Reportedly Told Him

Joe Biden might have gotten a little grace period immediately after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump from the Democrats trying to push him to step aside from the 2024 race.

We reported earlier about the move made by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), talking one-on-one with Biden to persuade him to get out, while Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) also went on record saying Biden should quit the race.

A Pelosi source said that what Schiff said was supposedly "news" to her. Politico reporter Rachel Bade had a great response to that effort to deflect by Pelosi's team.

But now there's a new report that Pelosi told Biden he can't win, even presenting him with polling data. She had said to wait until after the NATO summit to address the question. Well, it's after.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi privately told President Joe Biden in a recent conversation that polling shows that the president cannot defeat Donald Trump and that Biden could destroy Democrats’ chances of winning the House in November if he continues seeking a second term, according to four sources briefed on the call.
The president responded by pushing back, telling Pelosi he has seen polls that indicate he can win, one source said. Another one of the sources described Biden as getting defensive about the polls. At one point, Pelosi asked Mike Donilon, Biden’s longtime adviser, to get on the line to talk over the data.

It sounds like they're going all in now on the intervention with Joe.

Pelosi even told him people would start getting louder, according to another report.

Pelosi also warned Biden that some Democratic lawmakers would start to grow louder in their griping about his political weaknesses, according to two people close to Pelosi. She urged the president to make a decision about stepping down soon.
One Pelosi ally said it was possible she would press Biden publicly to give up his spot atop the Democratic ticket.
“The speaker does not want to call on him to resign, but she will do everything in her power to make sure it happens,” this person said, referring to Biden quitting the race.
A second Pelosi ally put her calculus in blunt terms.
“There’s nothing subtle about Nancy,” this person said. “She starts with the question: ‘What’s it take to win?’ Then works backwards.”

Pelosi's team disputed the reporting.

But it still sounds like Biden's rejecting what they're telling him and refusing to get out, at least for now. Maybe events haven't reached the tipping point where Biden would decide to walk away. Or maybe they still haven't convinced Jill.

So then what? What other option do they have? It looks like they're leaking this to the media, perhaps thinking that will help force him out and threatening him with a more public rebuke. But that might only make Biden even more recalcitrant if he thinks people are plotting against him. It's all the pushing that now is probably why he was asking his people how Kamala Harris would do, trying to see if she would fare better in the race than he would.

This is also likely to disturb Democrats who think they're going around the voters with this process.

The Democrats deserve all the chaos and confusion because they put us all in this situation by backing this incoherent man. They created this mess. It's all on them. They deserve to lose and lose badly, whoever gets the nomination at the end of the day. I hope every American sees how vile they have been in this process.
