DeSantis Finishes off Mask Controversy With Boom He Drops on the Real Bullies

As we previously reported, the usual suspects flipped out over a story about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The left pitched it as DeSantis made a kid take off his mask. Naturally, that wasn’t true. DeSantis told kids that they didn’t have to wear masks behind him if they didn’t want to, championing an individual’s choice as he always has.

“You do not have to wear those masks,” DeSantis said to them. “I mean, please take them off. Honestly, it’s not doing anything and we’ve gotta stop with this COVID theater. So if you want to wear it, fine, but this is ridiculous.”

As we noted, the media went after him as they usually do.

As per the norm, the deliberate misreporting as to what actually happened has been widespread. For instance, WFLA reported that DeSantis “scolded” the students (he didn’t). CNN’s Chris Cillizza claimed DeSantis “yelled” at the students (he didn’t). The Hill alleged DeSantis “chided” the students (he didn’t).

But as we noted, DeSantis had a pitch-perfect response.

But if you can make a pitch-perfect response better, DeSantis just did that on Thursday night, appearing with Tucker Carlson on Fox News. Not only did he further debunk the claims made about the invented masking controversy and that he didn’t bully anyone, but he also explained who the real bullies have been over the past two years.

“None of the kids were wearing masks,” DeSantis said. “And it seemed to me that someone had told the kids they had to do it. So, I just wanted to make it very clear: they do not need to be doing it.” It should be noted that the “kids” here were college students, too.

DeSantis continued, and just decimated the Democrats on the issue.

“Bullying is locking kids out of school, which they did.

Bullying is forcing kids to wear masks for 8 hours a day, which they did for two years and are only stopping now because the polling has changed.

Bullying is kicking people out of work because of vaccine mandates. We fought all of those policies in Florida. We lifted people up, and we liberated them from local school boards and governments that imposed them.”

Brilliantly put! How dare any of the Democrats or liberal media talk about anyone bullying kids, after what they have done to them over the past two years? How much damage has been done to kids because of this? And all for naught — which makes it even worse. Standing up for their rights to be free from bullying isn’t bullying.
