We reported earlier about how Kamala Harris’ tweet today, in the middle of the Memorial Day holiday weekend just completely missed the point of the holiday.

How do you so miss the point of the holiday? She apparently needed a reminder of what the purpose of the holiday is, that there’s a reason for that “long weekend” that her tweet completely leaves out: to remember those who gave their lives in the service of this country. Yes, we’re all likely going to spend time with friends and relatives. But we’re also going to remember. That’s something the people who pretend to be our leaders really should recognize and care about. She got “ratioed” because of her utter disregard for the day and seemingly making it all about her. But even so, she didn’t post a supplemental tweet to correctly recognize the holiday, at least not as of this writing.

Joe Biden had one light and fluffy tweet about himself today.

Biden did send a nice, supportive message to the troops the day before.

But even in that, he seemed to miss that it was not Armed Forces Day, the day to recognize those serving in the military, but Memorial Day, the day to remember those who gave their lives in service to this country. After more than 40 years in government he should know the difference, but apparently doesn’t.

Kamala Harris and Joe Biden could both learn a lesson from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as to how to do things right.

“No better way to start Memorial Day Weekend than a Salute to America’s Heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice,” DeSantis tweeted.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, DeSantis also ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Monday in honor of Memorial Day “at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from sunrise until noon.

“On Memorial Day, we honor the heroes of the United States Military who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country,” DeSantis said in a statement. “We shall never forget the selfless bravery of the men and women who laid down their lives to protect their fellow citizens.

“Our hearts are heavy with gratitude for their unwavering commitment to protecting this nation’s highest ideal of freedom in the face of grave danger.”

It doesn’t seem like it should be that hard for our leaders to understand. So nice to see that we have some leaders like DeSantis who actually get it right.
