Minnesota Paper Cheers Walz's Child Sex Offender Pardon — Then Somehow Makes It Even Worse

There are some controversies so bad that it's just better to sit it out if you disagree with the prevailing sentiment in the country about said controversy. This is one such controversy.

Let's first catch up:

As RedState reported last week in several articles, besieged lame-duck Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz unconscionably pardoned a reprehensible illegal alien for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

Walz's vile "logic"?

The whacked-out Democrat governor claimed the pardon was based on rehabilitation, the victim’s support, and the idea that the man should not be judged forever by his worst act. Walz also absurdly argued that removing him from Minnesota did not make the state safer.

The Incredible Comment Tim Walz Made About the Deportation of the Child Sex Offender He Pardoned

The Logic Walz and MN Pardon Officials Used to Clear Child Sex Predator Will Bend Your Mind

Welp, Minnesota's flagship newspaper (left-wing rag) just couldn't leave well enough (horrible enough) alone. If there were still readers willing to give the Minnesota Star Tribune the benefit of the doubt, this might just be the moment that at least some of them decide to stick a fork in the rag.

Defending Walz's decision to grant clemency to an illegal alien convicted of repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl—just before he was set to be deported—isn't merely a controversial editorial position. For the moral among us, it's also incomprehensible.

Reasonable people can disagree over taxes, spending, immigration policy, or even the proper use (or abuse) of executive clemency. But when the subject is a convicted child rapist, most Americans don't instinctively begin searching for reasons to justify keeping him in the country. Then again, most Americans aren't like Tim Walz.

Yet that's exactly the impression the paper left.

As reported by Fox News on Monday, the paper was put on blast on social media over the weekend after one of its columnists defended Walz for pardoning the illegal—just before he was scheduled to be deported. (Spoiler: Rubio deported him anyway.)

Minnesota Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer summed it up, thusly:

The Minnesota Star Tribune is cheering on Tim Walz protecting an illegal alien monster who raped a 10 year old girl. No one should read this depraved rag. They are sick.

Sick indeed. Here's the thing:

Even if you're a Democrat who supports illegal aliens flowing across our Southern Border, shouldn't there be a point when even you (third-person Leftist) reach a point of disgust, and at least temporarily put your various narratives aside in support of human decency—not to mention defenseless children?

Then It Got Worse

The Star Tribune went on to dismissively compare the actions of the illegal aliens to January 6 protesters. Under the subhead, Cheers to Gov. Tim Walz, the shameless columnist wrote (emphasis, mine):

The governor refused to back down from his vote to pardon a Hmong man convicted of felony sexual assault in 2006. It’s significant that Tou Lue Vang needed only two of three votes from the state Board of Pardons, but he received unanimous support.

In addition to Walz, the board includes Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson. Before her vote, the chief cited the letter of support for Vang submitted by the assault survivor. Also, Vang had not committed additional crimes in the past two decades.

Vang’s pardon made him a political punching bag. Secretary of State Marco Rubio deported him to Laos. Vang’s actions 20 years ago were awful, but so were the violent protests at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and those folks received presidential pardons. Of the deportation, Walz said, “And by just picking them up and taking them out with no due process, it just seems unfair.”

Cheers to Walz for standing behind the pardon.

I can't print the descriptors I'd love to use, so suffice it to say that today's depraved Left is not like us, gang, and thank God, we're not like them.
