It was bad enough that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) pardoned Tou Lue Vang, a man who had been convicted of reprehensible first-degree criminal sexual conduct against a child. The abuse started when the child was 10 years old and continued over two years.
Vang was convicted 20 years ago and has had an order of removal to be deported to Laos ever since. He had been given permanent residence status after entering the country as a refugee. That was revoked with the conviction in 2006. But he was not deported because Laos was not accepting deportees at that point. He was given "supervised release" as a result of that problem. That changed last year when Laos began accepting more deportees, and he was scheduled to be deported. That's when Walz came in with the pardon.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio came to the rescue. He revoked Vang's status, chastised Walz for the pardon, and deported Vang back to Laos on Friday.

Now, Tim Walz has responded after all the backlash against this incredibly bad pardon. He made a statement to the media on Tuesday attacking Vang's deportation. It's incredible that anyone ever considered this man for higher office. His remarks are gross.
.@GovTimWalz on why ICE shouldn’t have deported this child rapist: “we can’t all be judged by our worst day.”

For Tou Lue Vang this wasn’t just one “worst day” — it was YEARS of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl starting when she was 10.
Just disgraceful. https://t.co/QCzSnYh4zA pic.twitter.com/hJ2TRlan4k
“Did that [the deportation] make us any safer?" Walz asked.
"Did that make the children that are left behind any more stable? Did it improve the idea that we can’t all be judged by our worst day?"
Yes, arguably, it did make us safer, because Vang is no longer here; he's in Laos.
How vile can Walz be with that comment about being "judged by our worst day"? First, people are often judged by their worst day if they do something wrong. Second, this conduct is not like Vang had an accident or he drank too much on one occasion; he repeatedly abused a child. It wasn't just "one worst day." It's truly heinous conduct, and it's bizarre of Walz to downplay it like that.
This is the guy Democrats tried to sell us for vice president. Anyone who thinks like this should not only never be vice president, but he should never hold any position that requires any kind of judgment ever. Kamala Harris, who picked him as the nominee for the VP slot, should be ashamed of herself if she has any conscience left. We certainly dodged a bullet when Harris and Walz were defeated in 2024 by President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
But this is all just part of the crazy take that Democrats have on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and deportation in general. It's one more reason the Democrats should be rejected out of hand in the midterms in November.
