Farmers Are Essential to Making America Healthy Again

In November of 2024, the American electorate voted for President Trump and Vice President Vance, and one of the main drivers was the Make America Healthy Again movement, led by the MAHA moms. We have already seen some progress, as some corporations like Starbucks are adding protein options with less sugar, and Americans have woken up to the fact that most foods being sold in stores have way too many unnecessary ingredients, and want cleaner alternatives.

Now, restaurants such as True Food Kitchen have fully removed seed oils from their menu and are delivering fresh food on a daily basis. All of that is extremely important in making sure Americans eat right and feel good afterwards. What is also important is supporting the farmers and making sure the government supports their needs.

For decades, career politicians have neglected farmers, especially in states like California, where farmers are dealing with water shortages, which hurt smaller operations. Arkansas led the way in farm bankruptcy filings in 2025, with many farmers losing money for several years. Farmers are the backbone of Americans' eating fresh and safe food, while also producing an abundant food supply.

Farmers are essential to America because they are stewards of our food and soil — with federal support and funding, the nation's health could significantly improve. The Trump Administration, specifically Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is now focusing on prioritizing local farmers over processed food companies.

On Tuesday, RFK Jr. said that the only way to Make America Healthy Again is to have prosperous farms.

"Everything that we do is laser-focused, as our president wants, on making sure that we have good, healthy food for the American people, and the only way to do that is by having prosperous farms across this country."

A key aspect of safe farms would be to get rid of chemicals that are in soil, water, and, coincidentally, in food. The good news is that RFK Jr. is already working on a way to phase out glyphosate and other chemicals in farming.

Republican Rep. Thomas Massie (KY-04) introduced legislation called the PRIME Act, which will be included in the Farm Bill, that will help local farmers.

In February, Rollins launched the Farmer and Rancher Freedom Framework, which entails protecting farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers from politically charged lawsuits.

It's a shame that a framework even needs to be created due to politically charged lawfare. Farmers should be supported by politicians from both parties and by Americans as a whole. There is nothing controversial about that. We all eat the same food that they work extremely hard to grow.

There is more awareness about the farms and chemicals surrounding them than ever before, and the good news is that there are several hundreds of thousands of people who are demanding action and assistance for these local farmers. For far too long, they have been overlooked, but the Trump Administration seems to be taking this seriously, and hopefully, it will only be a matter of time before farmers get the support they need and the chemicals are removed from the soil.

Politicians should make farmers' lives easier, not harder, by providing the resources and funding they need. We must Make America Healthy Again, and supporting the farmers is a big step in that direction.
