Dems All of a Sudden Care About High Gas Prices? They Have the Power to Do Something About It, But Don't

In 2022, gas prices rose to just over five dollars a gallon under the Biden Administration. At the same time, California gas prices were, on average, six dollars and 40 cents. The overwhelming majority of Democrat politicians were silent when gas prices were through the roof under Biden; they had no criticism back then, but now, all of a sudden, they remember that high gas prices are not a positive for the average American.

Democrats, especially those in California, can help average Americans they claim to care about by suspending the gas tax and their environmental fees. Better yet, they can eliminate it and give drivers permanent relief. But we all know the chances of that happening are slim to none, because they would rather just go in front of the cameras and whine about the high prices and blame President Trump.

Per AAA, when gas prices began to see a drop under the Trump administration, the national average was under three dollars a gallon. States like Colorado saw prices under two dollars a gallon.

In California, where Democrats have a supermajority in the legislature, the average price was well over four dollars a gallon. Instead of being competent and trying to relieve drivers of the high gas prices, Gov. Gavin Newsom's office is too busy trolling Trump because that's easy to do, but actually doing the work to help residents is too much to ask for, as Newsom travels the country on his book tour.

Newsom and his team think that if they try to "troll" that will help voters forget his disastrous record as governor of California, that has led to an increase in homelessness, housing costs, electricity costs, gas prices, gas taxes, all while throwing more taxpayer money at the homelessness problem only for it to get worse, and under his tenure, the state saw more people leave than enter the state for the first time ever. Not to mention businesses leaving, as well as the closing of prisons in 2020, and rampant crime due to district attorneys that he supported, such as Chesa Boudin and George Gascon, who have since been removed by voters.

That is only a sliver of what Newsom will need to answer for if he decides to run for president in 2028, not to mention his handling of the Eaton, Malibu, and Palisades fires. Nobody is going to care or remember how his team memes, but what he has delivered for the people of California, and the answer almost always is that he has underdelivered while taxpayers coughed up more money.

It is shameful that instead of sitting down with the legislature and actually coming up with a way to suspend the gas tax and environmental fees for Californians to get some sort of relief, he thinks that by blaming Trump and then posting memes, all the problems his state is facing, largely due to his incompetence, will evaporate.

The states with the highest gas prices, alongside California, are Hawaii and New York. All Democrat run states. Yet these are the very same people who are the ones now blaming Trump for the high gas prices, when their residents were paying well over five dollars a gallon under Biden, and didn't even attempt to criticize him back then.

It's all a show for them. Legislatively, they only look at ways to get more money from taxpayers to "combat climate change," while the quality of life continuously decreases. The bottom line is that Democrats who are trolling Trump or complaining about high gas prices should do something about it. They have the power to do so but are choosing not to act. Voters should remember that in November.
