Scammers of the world, unite!
That is the message the Democrat Party has been sending the world with its open borders policies. Ever since the Biden administration imported millions of foreigners — many of them human traffickers, drug dealers, conmen, and the like — it has been open season on American taxpayers.
While the Trump administration has effectively declared a first-of-its-kind "war on fraud," there are still disturbing reports of various kinds of fraud spanning the country. And one particularly revolting kind is becoming increasingly prevalent: "fake robberies."
RedState's Teri Christoph provided some interesting news coverage on this terrible trend:
According to the Department of Justice, thousands of people paid Nayi anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 each to pose as victims of the scam "crimes" so that they could later apply for U visas, which are set aside for foreign nationals who are victims of certain kinds of crimes and who later assist law enforcement.
It should be no surprise that Democrat-run Chicago is one of the epicenters of this innovative new form of criminality.
Let's follow along on how this goes in practice. According to a disturbing new CWB Chicago investigation, three masked gunmen entered Bucktown Food & Liquor on North Milwaukee Avenue on July 13, 2023.
They ordered five people to surrender their wallets. During the supposed holdup, one of the men accidentally discharged his weapon, shooting a 26-year-old employee in the abdomen. The employee was critically injured but survived.
It turns out the robbery was allegedly part of an elaborate immigration fraud operation in which foreigners paid thousands of dollars to pretend to be victims of violent crimes.
A man's life was nearly lost so foreigners could secure immigration benefits under false pretenses. And the case is far from an isolated incident.
Here's how the scam works. The scheme exploits a little-known feature of America's immigration system: the U visa. According to the Department of Homeland Security:
The U nonimmigrant status (U visa) is set aside for victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse and are helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity. Congress created the U nonimmigrant visa with the passage of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act (including the Battered Immigrant Women’s Protection Act) in October 2000.
The legislation was intended to strengthen the ability of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking of aliens and other crimes, while also protecting victims of crimes who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse due to the crime and are willing to help law enforcement authorities in the investigation or prosecution of the criminal activity. The legislation also helps law enforcement agencies to better serve victims of crimes.
Eligible recipients may eventually qualify for permanent residency. But criminals have figured out how to manufacture the illusion of eligibility.
First, someone recruits foreign nationals willing to pay for a staged violent crime. Then the organizers arrange a location, a fake robber and supposed victims. The robbery is performed, sometimes in view of surveillance cameras, and the participants report it to police.
The next step is to obtain law enforcement certification and use that documentation to support a U-visa petition.
Here is the kicker: police certification does not automatically grant a visa. Immigration authorities must still determine whether the applicant meets the requirements.
Nevertheless, the entire scam depends on deceiving police into documenting a crime that supposedly happened to an innocent victim.
This isn't just a paperwork racket. They're filing false police reports, wasting law enforcement resources and possibly putting innocent bystanders in danger.
Such cases aren't outliers. There are hundreds upon hundreds of these cases. Let's go back to Illinois for one particularly active offender.
On October 22, U.S. District Judge Mary Rowland sentenced Parth Nayi, 29, of Woodridge, Illinois, to two years in federal prison and fined him $50,000 after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit visa fraud.
According to the Justice Department, Nayi helped organize hundreds of staged armed robberies between 2022 and 2024, involving businesses in Chicago, its suburbs and other states.
The operation involved recruiting fake victims, compensating store owners, hiring pretend robbers and coaching participants on how to carry out the deception.
Prosecutors say participants paid between $5,000 and $30,000 apiece, with thousands of people posing as victims during the broader operation.
It isn't just Chicago where these "fake robberies" are taking place. In Massachusetts, federal prosecutors uncovered another operation involving staged robberies at convenience stores, liquor stores and fast-food restaurants.
The mastermind, Rambhai Patel, an Indian national living in New York, pleaded guilty in May 2025 to conspiracy to commit visa fraud.
According to the Justice Department, Patel and his accomplices staged at least nine robberies across the country, including at least five in Massachusetts.
The fake robbers would threaten employees with what appeared to be firearms, grab money from registers and flee, often while surveillance cameras captured the theatrical performance. The employees would then wait several minutes before calling police. One participant paid $20,000 for the privilege of being a purported robbery victim.
The case continued expanding. In April 2026, federal prosecutors indicted ten additional people in connection with alleged staged robberies.
One participant, Mitul Patel, who had been living illegally in Worcester, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty and was ordered removed from the United States in July.
Let's go to Kansas City. This scam in Missouri was even more brazen.
Jose Luis Morales Salgado, a Mexican national, helped arrange staged roadside robberies in which participants pretended their vehicles had broken down.
A masked gunman would arrive, strike the supposed victims, steal their cash and fire bullets into their vehicles to make the incidents appear authentic.
Actual gunfire. Actual false police reports. All in pursuit of fraudulent immigration benefits.
Investigators identified 11 robberies involving 33 purported victims. Eighteen of those individuals submitted U-visa applications falsely claiming to have suffered violent crimes.
According to federal prosecutors, an undercover agent eventually arranged to pay Salgado $4,000 for a staged robbery.
Salgado assured the agent he would "put on a grand show." Probably beats the theater kids we see at most left-wing riots.
He was arrested in January 2025, pleaded guilty in March 2026 and was sentenced in July to 21 months in federal prison. The court also ordered him to forfeit $61,200.
And in September, another defendant, Birenkumar Rameshbhai Patel, pleaded guilty in South Carolina to conspiring to obtain a U visa through a staged convenience-store robbery.
Beyond all of this, criminal aliens are being emboldened by the Democrat Party's sanctuary city policies, and its left-wing media apparatus that fuels their entitlement mentality and disrespect for our country.
Homeland Security General Counsel James Percival recently smoked a 60 Minutes hack who tried characterize people living in the country illegally as 'mostly law-abiding.'
“If you are in this country illegally, it is virtually impossible for you to live in this country and not commit additional legal violations—working without authorization, identity theft. There’s a lot of illegality that goes on when you are breaking the law.” @DHSGenCounsel https://t.co/nRN5OSjsfJ

“If you are in this country illegally, it is virtually impossible for you to live in this country and not commit additional legal violations—working without authorization, identity theft," he said. "There’s a lot of illegality that goes on when you are breaking the law.”
This is the part that radical activists pretending to be journalists in the media feign not to understand. We aren't talking about "undocumented immigrants," we are talking about illegal aliens. It isn't a matter of documentation, it's a matter of the law.
It is like saying if you drive without a driver's license that you are an "undocumented motorist." And then you are surprised that such people tend to have a higher rate of lawbreaking than registered drivers.
But it is not just illegal aliens that are a problem for America, now. We are encouraging criminality with H1B visa fraud and other types of fraud, including U visa fraud.
We are turning into a nation of scammers and fraudsters. That is not a bug but a feature for the socialist Democrat Party, since it functions more like a criminal enterprise than a political party.
Finally, America has a president whose administration is trying to put a stop to it. That's as good a reason to vote Republican as any other: putting an end to this kind of fraud.
