The Department of Justice announced that a former Voice of America employee has been indicted for making death threats against not only Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), but also directed at her family and members of her staff.
A press release issued Thursday from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Michael G. Sullivan of the United States Capitol Police said that the Maryland resident has been charged "with influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, influencing a federal official by threat, interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure, and anonymous telecommunications harassment."

"Seth Jason, of Edgewater, Maryland, was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police and the Anne Arundel Police Department early this morning, July 17, 2025," the release read. "Jason will make his initial appearance this afternoon before a magistrate judge in U.S. District Court."
It went on to point out that the threatening calls were made inside the Voice of America headquarters.
According to the indictment, between Oct. 11, 2023, and Jan. 21, 2025, Jason made threatening calls to the Dalton and Rome District Offices for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R, Ga.).
The U.S. Capitol Police investigation revealed that the phone calls were made from various phone lines connected to studios and control rooms at Voice of America headquarters, where Jason had worked as a longtime employee. In eight calls made over fifteen months, Jason threatened the use of firearms to kill Rep. Greene, her staff, and their families.
If he's convicted, the various charges could leave Jason serving time behind bars for the maximum penalty of 17 years' imprisonment.
Following news of the arrest and indictment, various Conservative commentators reacted.
"US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro has just announced that a longtime former Voice of America employee, Seth Jason, has been indicted for making eight calls over the last 15 months threatening to murder Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, her staff, and their families," Charlie Kirk wrote on X. "The calls were made from INSIDE the offices and studios of VOA. It's starting to make a lot of sense why Kari Lake decided VOA had become so corrupt and radical that it needed to be completely dismantled."

Kari Lake responded and wrote, "As the Trump Administration official overseeing VOA, I thank Judge Jeanine Pirro for taking these threats seriously. I am sickened by what Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, her staff, and their families had to endure as the threats persisted for 15 months!"
"It angers me that a taxpayer-funded VOA employee would use taxpayer-funded equipment in a depraved way to threaten the lives of people, including an elected official," she added. "If he is found guilty, I hope he is sentenced to the maximum amount of time behind bars.

"The alleged actions leading to this arrest illustrate only a small part of the past rot at Voice of America and the U.S. Agency for Global Media. President Trump wants the agency eliminated—I agree with him—it's time to shut it down," Lake continued.
As my RedState colleague Teri Christoph reported in December, MTG was "heartsick" after learning that a woman was accidentally killed in an automobile accident when law enforcement responded to bomb threats made to Greene's home in Rome, Georgia.
Greene's tweet read, in part:
I'm heartsick right now. I was just informed that an innocent woman died today in an auto accident involving a member of the Rome Police bomb squad who was responding to the threat at my home.
My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department.
These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It's an undue strain on our law enforcement, who must treat them seriously. The officer was responding to protect my life. And now, a woman has lost her life because of this despicable act.
The perpetrator of this crime has committed murder in our small community of Rome, Georgia.
It is unclear at this time whether the fatal December accident has any connection to Thursday’s indictment.
