Happy Labor Day weekend, otherwise known as the day of socialism's celebration. It is their national holiday, so organizers and activists of all stripes get to feature their anti-Americanism and Israel hatred at various conferences.
Along with this weekend's Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) 63rd Annual Convention in Detroit, Chicago hosted the 2026 Socialism Conference. My birthplace has always been a hotbed of socialist, Marxist, and communist thought and organizing, so it is only appropriate that they invite all the loonies into one asylum for their annual fete.
As one local publication said:
Chicago has seen a lot come and go – the World’s Fair, Al Capone, a functioning city budget. This weekend, it’s hosting something arguably more destructive than all three.
A four-day gathering is descending on the Windy City, and its organizers aren’t even pretending to hide what they’re about. The conference website proudly declares it’s the place for “seasoned radicals and new activists to sharpen analysis, hone strategy, and build community.” Their words, not mine. Not sharpen job skills. Not build businesses. Sharpen radical analysis.
The sponsors are all fellow travelers, led by none other than the DSA: the Democratic Socialists of America. The other organizations are the anti-ICE arm, Organized Communities Against Deportations, and the Black Rose Anarchist Federation, which doesn't believe in businesses or supervisory oversight: "a world with no bosses." Definitely living up to their name. For socialists, they seem to have no problem with capitalism: the entrance fee is $155; whatever happened to "from each according to his abilities?"
The socialists also seem to want to turn the clock back to 2020. As my RedState colleague Becky Noble reported:
The 2026 Chicago Socialism Conference is being held this weekend, starting on Friday. There is apparently a theme to the conference, something to the effect of "Way Back Weekend." The reason: Attendees are required to wear COVID masks, either N95 or K-95 masks, while on the conference floor.
Not just demanding people wear the masks, but the organizers also "recommended" attendees test themselves for COVID. Distinctly dystopian, and definitively anti-freedom.
Then there is the laundry list of keynote speakers and panelists. Rocking it new school, Twitch streamer Hasan Piker was a featured speaker, along with OG (old gangsta) terrorists, the Weather Underground's Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dorn. Dorn is the original crazy-eyed AWFL — prove me wrong.

And among the usual panels like the "Marxism Education Series," workshops on "Fighting Fascism," and "Confronting Zionism: Decolonizing Palestine and Building the World Anew," there was this visionary and insightful panel, featuring Da'Shaun L. Harrison, a self-described "queer and trans afropessimist and anarcho-communist." Harrison discussed, with a completely straight face, how "Black flesh" is being used as a tool of the oppressor to "genocide fat people."

And to explain why that is supposedly fascistic, Harrison turns to Frantz Fanon and “Black flesh under colonial surveillance.”
If GLP-1s are already “body fascism,” the dual and triple agonists are going to require an entirely new theoretical vocabulary.
I have detailed my own struggles with health maintenance and finding my balance, and it's a journey, but necessary in order to feel your best and ably fulfill your God-given purpose. I have never desired (or needed, frankly) to take GLP-1s, but I do not begrudge others who choose that route for weight loss. So, there is nothing fascistic about it, and no one is targeting fat people for genocide. If that were the case, the body positivity mess would still be in full swing, where those activists simply died from their own excesses.
Health, movement, and being connected to our real bodies is how God intended for us to operate and navigate. But when an entire movement has thrown God out the window, God's order and plan automatically go with it, to be replaced by this chaotic nonsense.
Activist and author Beatrice Adler-Bolton, who just penned a book called "Health Communism," spouted more gobbledygook, advocating that the socialist movement give up being "fitter than the fascists." Down with the patriarchy and capitalistic aims like trying to be attractive, get in shape, and choose health over sickness... or something like that.
It's insane.

At Socialism 2026, Adler-Bolton argues that “fitness is a measure of relative disposability under capitalism” and says the goal should not be to become “more useful to the ruling order.”
She says the left should not try to beat fascists “at their own game” by becoming “fitter, more eugenic.”
“In fact, the more dysgenic, the better, I think.”
She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.
Is it me, or is there a big disconnect for people to be so concerned about COVID testing and masks, yet deem other people's desire to get and stay healthy as fascist? Also curious how these characters have an entirely different lexicon than the rest of the world, which is probably part of the point. The majority of this bloc are academics. So, just like they indoctrinated an entire generation to hate the American way of life, take cross-sex hormones, and cut off their body parts, they are now pushing this latest form of indoctrination onto the next.
So, while backlash may be happening to combat their last wave of damage, they are gearing up to enact even more in the years to come. This snippet about the final plenary session proves this, and sums up their goals quite succinctly: WE WANT IT ALL.

There is nothing inevitable about how the next year or five years or ten years unfold. While billionaire oligarchs and their friends on the far right attempt to build a fortress around the future for themselves, glimmers of a brighter future have been fanned into flames by socialists, abolitionists, and working people all over the world. Join the closing plenary of Socialism 2026 for a reminder of what we are fighting for and our collective power to achieve it.
It's time we take these socialists literally as well as seriously. This bankrupt and dangerous philosophy must be stamped out, burned up, and the ground where it stood should be salted and saged. If we don't, they will have no qualms in doing the same to us.
