Vice President JD Vance spoke at the Precision Manufacturing Facility in Plover, Wisconsin, on Thursday, taking the Trump administration's economic message to this congressional district ahead of the 2026 midterms. Vance was joined by Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) and Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler, who both gave remarks leading up to Vance's speech. Also in attendance were Republican candidate for governor and Trump-endorsed Rep. Tom Tiffany (WI-07), as well as other GOP representatives.
Vance moved into the meat of his speech, starting at a macro level concerning what is at stake for the midterm elections. He urged that Democrats must not regain control of Congress. Vance gave a shout-out to Rep. Van Orden and acknowledged his heavy lifting in getting legislation like the One Big Beautiful Bill passed.
My dear friend Derrick, it's hard to miss him. I gotta tell you, sometimes in Washington, you get to Washington, there are people you can trust, there are people you can't trust. Derrick is one of those guys you can trust to always fight for the people in this room. He knows exactly where he came from, proud veteran.
Vance invoked Tuesday night's State of the Union address, and painted the picture of the many Democrat representatives who refused to clap or stand for the featured guests and their stories. These individuals' gains, grief, and American grit resonated with all Americans, not just those of a particular party, yet the Democrat response was less than stellar.

Vance joked about having to sit behind President Donald Trump for two hours and his internal monologue to not "make a stupid face for two hours, which is hard for me. When you're on TV for two hours, and the Democrats are doing crazy things[.]... It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen."

"What kind of a person can't stand up and cheer for an innocent young girl who's doing well, who's showing the entire country strength and resilience?" pic.twitter.com/GrQ13XkXya
Vance continued:
What is it about a political party that cannot stand up and cheer for a six-year-old girl who survived an attack? What is it about a political party that can't stand up and cheer the fact that we have rising wages and low inflation for the first time in a very long time in the United States of America? [...]
The question of the next election is do we want low taxes? And of course, we do. It's not, do we want a secure border? And of course, we do. It's a more fundamental question than that. Do we want to give power back to the people who opened our border, who raised your taxes, who won't even cheer for a six-year-old girl who was wounded because of their bad policies? And I think our answer to that, is "Hell, No!" We want to give power back to the people like Derrick Van Orden who fight for us.

Vance then moved into President Trump's War on Fraud. Too often, when a person lives in a red or purple state, they assume the fraud occurring in deep blue Minnesota or California does not affect them. Vance broke down the real cost of the fraud occurring in Minnesota, why the Trump administration is going after it, and why it matters to everyday Americans like those in Wisconsin.

.@VP: "The job of your government is not to open your borders, and allow fraudsters to come in and take advantage of you. The job of your government is to shut the border and shut off the fraud, and that’s exactly what we’re doing in the Trump Administration." pic.twitter.com/XZrmnMdQEo

Vance moved toward his conclusion by detailing life for the everyday American on a micro level. Inflation at 2.4 percent, the lowest in five years, cannot be discounted. Vance contrasted take-home wages and energy costs under a Trump administration versus those under a Biden administration. Vance's killer line: "Hearing the Democrats talk about affordability is like hearing an arsonist complain about fire: It's your fault!"

Vance rounded out his remarks by asking another fundamental question: "Who fights for you? [...] I'm not gonna tell you you're going to agree with us. I'm asking you to remember who serves you. We wake up every single day, and we think about how we can fight for you."
Vance took questions from the press, then offered this illuminating conclusion. Vance said that it was watching the 1993 film "Rudy" where he realized that "The American Dream takes many shapes and sizes."
When we talk about the American Dream, I'm not talking about my American Dream, I'm talking about your American Dream. Whether you want to have a good job and raise a healthy and happy family. Whether your kid wants to go off and play college football. Whether you want to build a business like the one that we're standing in. Whatever it is, the great thing about this country is that the American Dream comes in many shapes and sizes. But here's the thing about the American Dream: The government cannot give it to you or for you, but the government, with bad policy and bad leadership, it can destroy that American Dream, whatever shape it takes in the lives or you and your children.
