When I look at the Democrats less than two weeks before the presidential election, I smell desperation, fear, and an uncharacteristic incompetence in messaging.
Over the past few days, Democrats and their close friends and allies in the establishment media have trotted out two “October surprises” in an effort to sway voters away from former President Donald Trump.
I’ll be blunt: If these “surprises” are the best they have got, then Trump might be in better shape than we thought.
Let’s start with the left-wing activists over at The Atlantic, who published a piece claiming, among other things, that Trump not only wanted his generals to be more like Hitler’s, but that he also disrespected a veteran who was tragically murdered at Ft. Hood.
Guillén, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, grew up in Houston, and her murder sparked outrage across Texas and beyond. Fort Hood had become known as a particularly perilous assignment for female soldiers, and members of Congress took up the cause of reform. Shortly after her remains were discovered, President Donald Trump himself invited the Guillén family to the White House. With Guillén’s mother seated beside him, Trump spent 25 minutes with the family as television cameras recorded the scene.
In the meeting, Trump maintained a dignified posture and expressed sympathy to Guillén’s mother. “I saw what happened to your daughter Vanessa, who was a spectacular person, and respected and loved by everybody, including in the military,” Trump said. Later in the conversation, he made a promise: “If I can help you out with the funeral, I’ll help—I’ll help you with that,” he said. “I’ll help you out. Financially, I’ll help you.”
That’s good. If you need help, I’ll help you out.” Later, a reporter covering the meeting asked Trump, “Have you offered to do that for other families before?” Trump responded, “I have. I have. Personally. I have to do it personally. I can’t do it through government.” The reporter then asked: “So you’ve written checks to help for other families before this?” Trump turned to the family, still present, and said, “I have, I have, because some families need help … Maybe you don’t need help, from a financial standpoint. I have no idea what—I just think it’s a horrific thing that happened. And if you did need help, I’m going to—I’ll be there to help you.”
The author claimed that Trump later balked at the cost of Guillen’s funeral, saying, “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f****** Mexican!” The former president claimed the family was “trying to rip me off,” according to the anonymous source who allegedly spoke with the author.
Yet, everyone who would have had information about Trump’s supposed comments refuted the claims, arguing that he never said those words. The final nail in the coffin of this ridiculous narrative came with Mayra Guillen, the victim’s sister, who bashed The Atlantic for exploiting her death. “I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members,” she wrote in a post on X. “President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa.”
Wow.

I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members. President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa. In fact, I voted for President Trump today. https://t.co/o8cDrKOKBV
The rest of the article simply regurgitated other unfounded narratives about Trump’s supposed disdain for the U.S. Armed Forces.
Shortly after that lie was exposed, Democrats went with another tactic: Giving Trump the Brett Kavanaugh treatment.
A former model named Stacey Williams came forward on Wednesday, claiming that Trump groped her when she was a minor.
A former model who says she met Donald Trump through the late sexual abuser Jeffrey Epstein has accused the former president of groping and sexually touching her in an incident in Trump Tower in 1993, in what she believed was a “twisted game” between the two men.
Stacey Williams, who worked as a professional model in the 1990s, said she first met Trump in 1992 at a Christmas party after being introduced to him by Epstein, who she believed was a good friend of the then New York real estate developer. Williams said Epstein was interested in her and the two casually dated for a period of a few months.
“It became very clear then that he and Donald were really, really good friends and spent a lot of time together,” Williams said.
The alleged groping occurred some months later, in the late winter or early spring of 1993, when Epstein suggested during a walk they were on that he and Williams stop by to visit Trump at Trump Tower.
The former model claims that shortly after they arrived at Trump Tower, the former president began putting his hands “all over my breasts” and other parts of her body.
Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the allegations. “These accusations, made by a former activist for Barack Obama and announced on a Harris campaign call two weeks before the election, are unequivocally false.”
Williams worked at Clean Tech for Obama, according to Breitbart News.
Here’s another point that came to mind right away when I found out about this new accuser: Why now?
Trump has run for president twice already. Where was Williams then? If Trump is such a horrible abuser, why would she want to remain silent and allow him to continue to have power?
The reason why is obvious: The story doesn't add up.
These two October surprises are desperate Hail Marys aimed at swinging the election in Vice President Kamala Harris’ favor. Both campaigns know this election will be a close one, which is why both candidates need all the help they can get. In this instance, Democrats are clearly throwing whatever they can against the wall, praying something might stick. This is what happens when you have an empty suit candidate with nothing of substance to run on, is it not?
