Despite what many of the national media would have you believe, the Chicago Cubs aren’t the World Series champions. At least not yet. Last night, the lovable losers kept their 71-year home-winless streak in World Series games alive, losing 1-0 to the Cleveland Indians. It was the first time Wrigley Field has hosted a World Series since 1945.

The Indians, now up 2-1 in the series, were led by the stellar pitching of starter Josh Tomlin and the bullpen work of Andrew Miller, Bryan Shaw and Cody Allen, who combined to hold the Cubs to five hits. The Indians now hold the record for the amount of shutouts in a single postseason with five.

Tonight’s game is a must-win for the Cubs if they want to break their own “curse.” They’ll face 2014 Cy Young winner Corey Kluber, Oh, yeah. Kluber completely dominated the Cubs in Game 1, striking out nine in six innings and leading the Tribe to a 5-0 win Tuesday night. The Cubs will send 38-year old John Lackey to the mound tonight.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:08 ET.

All eyes in the NBA may be focused squarely on the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, and why wouldn’t they? Golden State, already a historically good team, added one of the best players in the world during the offseason.

However, there’s a new force rising on the Lousiana coast. Despite losing its last two games, New Orleans Pelicans’ big man Anthony Davis is proving himself to be the dominating player many thought he would be when the then New Orleans Hornets drafted the Kentucky standout with the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Fresh off his 50-point game against the Denver Nuggets, Davis added another 45 points to his growing total on the season in a 122-114 lose to Golden State. His 95-points through two games is impressive. How so? He’s the first person to do it since Wilt Chamberlin did so in 1962.

Will the Pelicans win the NBA championship this season? No. No they won’t. Will Anthony Davis (at just 22-years old) prove himself to be one of the best players in the NBA? Undoubtedly yes.

No Saturday in the fall would be complete without college football. Today features a stacked deck with plenty of Top 25 teams jockeying for position before the first College Football Playoff  Rankings are announced on Nov. 1.

• No. 10 West Virginia (6-0) has flown under the radar for the first half of the season. Today at noon, the Mountaineers go on the road for one of its toughest tests this season against Big 12 foe Oklahoma State (5-2). WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen will be in for a homecoming of sorts. He was the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys in 2010.

• Are the Huskies for real? No. 4 Washington (7-0) has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2016 season, with quarterback Jake Browning leading the way with  1,708 passing yards and 26 TD passes. They’ll face what could be a preview of the Pac-12 championship game today at 3:30 p.m. ET against No. 16 Utah.  The Utes are facing a must-win situation if they hope to represent the Pac-12 in the playoff.

• Who will win the Big Ten? While most eyes have been on No. 2 Michigan (7-0) and No. 6 Ohio State (6-1), No. 7 Nebraska has been making a case for itself. The Huskers will face their biggest test of the season on the road against No. 11 Wisconsin (5-2) for a 7 p.m. start. Camp Randall has proven to be one of the more difficult places to play in the Big Ten.

• Many experts had tonight’s Clemson and Florida State game as the game of the season before the season began. Funny how that shake’s out. The No. 12 Seminoles (5-2) have a better shot at playing spoilers than they do reaching the playoff when they host No. 3 Clemson tonight at 8 p.m. Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson can add to his Heisman resume tonight, especially since signs point to Florida State safety Derwin James will be out of the lineup.
