The federal government has formally removed or deported an estimated 900,000+ illegal aliens since Donald Trump reassumed the Oval Office in 2025, and as many as 2.2 million more have self-deported.
But there are also many visitors who come here perfectly legally and then disrespect the privilege. On Monday, the State Department announced that, less than two years into Trump's final term, it had sent over 170,000 of them packing.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted the milestone to social media:

For those on the Left who are hot and bothered that Team Trump would actually take immigration seriously, here’s a reminder: that’s what the American people voted for.

It’s not wine-sipping French tourists who may have gotten a parking ticket that the administration is targeting; it’s criminals and miscreants who think they can do what they want without consequence:
"The majority of these visas were revoked due to law enforcement encounters for a range of criminal activity, with assault, driving under the influence, theft, and drug crimes being the leading causes. A significant share of visas were revoked for reckless driving, sexual assault, child abuse, fraud and embezzlement, and other crimes," according to the department.
Here is just a sample of the cases listed in a State Department fact sheet posted Monday:
- A foreign national who was charged with felony rape and sexual battery – including of a victim who was mentally disabled.
- A foreign national charged with felony kidnapping, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation of a minor.
- A foreign national arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with violence, drunk driving, and domestic violence.
- A U.S. embassy in North Africa revoked over 100 visas for “birth tourist” parents who came to the United States primarily to give birth so their children would get U.S. citizenship.
- A foreign national charged with sodomy of a child and aggravated sexual battery.

They’re also using the crackdown to address the birth tourism issue, where people fraudulently scheme to be in the country when delivering babies so their offspring automatically become U.S. citizens. "A U.S. embassy in North Africa revoked over 100 visas for 'birth tourist' parents who came to the United States primarily to give birth so their children would get U.S. citizenship," the department said.
Marco Rubio has said it before, and he’s saying it again: a U.S. visa is a privilege, not a right. Abuse it, and you will lose it under this administration.
Under President Trump and Secretary Rubio’s leadership, the State Department will continue to identify, investigate, and revoke the visas of foreign nationals who threaten the safety of the American people.
