Now that we’re in a ceasefire with Iran — which, as RedState’s Bonchie wrote earlier Wednesday, the Islamic Republic is already breaking — President Trump announced Wednesday morning that any country supplying weapons to them will face immediate punishment in the form of tariffs.
He posted his warning to Truth Social:
— Rapid Response 47 (@RapidResponse47) April 8, 2026
There will be no “exclusions or exemptions,” he told our trading partners.
Before that post, he had already posted another one on Wednesday morning, where he said that said Iran has undergone a regime change:
The full post:
The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change! There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear “Dust.” It is now, and has been, under very exacting Satellite Surveillance (Space Force!). Nothing has been touched from the date of attack. We are, and will be, talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran. Many of the 15 points have already been been agreed to. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP
He also vowed that “There will be no enrichment of Uranium” by (what's left of) the rogue regime.

Trump has found a way around the courts regarding tariffs:
The vast bulk of Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs, imposed last year, were struck down by the Supreme Court in February.
However, the White House has effectively rebuilt its tariff regime with its application of mechanisms within existing trade laws – such as Section 301 probes.
Metals are a key feature of the existing tariff regime, which currently imposes a 50% levy on products made entirely or almost entirely of steel, aluminum, or copper. There is a 25% tariff on derivative products “substantially made” of these metals.
From late July 2026, larger firms will face a 100% tariff on patented pharmaceutical products and ingredients. Smaller pharma companies will face the new tariff rate from late September.
Although he didn’t say it explicitly, the president’s announcement would seem to be squarely aimed at Russia and China:
Beijing and Moscow in the past have both helped Iran build military capacity — supplying missiles, air defense systems and technology intended to bolster Tehran and complicate matters for Washington.
Russia and China, however, have been restrained in their support amid the US-Israeli attacks on Iran.
As we reported, the U.S. reached a two-week ceasefire deal with Iran just before Trump’s Tuesday evening deadline for them to cooperate or face annihilation. RedState’s Ward Clark reported:
Iran confirms it has accepted a two-week ceasefire.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council says it has accepted a two-week ceasefire in the war. Its statement said it would negotiate with the United States in Islamabad beginning Friday. “It is emphasized that this does not signify the termination of the war,” the statement said. “Our hands remain upon the trigger, and should the slightest error be committed by the enemy, it shall be met with full force.”
For now, at least, the U.S. air assault has paused. How long that will last is anyone's guess.
Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
