Vice President JD Vance spoke in Budapest, Hungary Tuesday where he accused the European Union of interfering with the upcoming election there and offered strong praise for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Orbán is an outspoken fan of President Donald Trump, and the admiration is mutual:
Orbán is one of the Trump administration’s top allies in Europe, and Vance’s visit is intended to bolster his government ahead of parliamentary elections. Polls suggest Orbán’s party could be in trouble.
“I want to help as much as I possibly can, the prime minister, as he faces this election season, which I believe is happening in just about a week, the election to elect the next prime minister of Hungary. Now, I don’t expect, of course, the people of Hungary to listen to the vice president of the United States,” Vance said at a press conference alongside Orbán on Tuesday.
But he didn’t just back Orbán, he slammed the EU for undermining him:

Vance was especially impressed by Orbán's energy policies, even as many European countries have gone all in on wild, ineffective green energy boondoggles:
During the press conference, Vance praised Orbán for his energy policy and slammed other European countries over energy struggles they are facing amid the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, in which the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for the oil industry, has been effectively closed.
“I think Viktor Orbán has been the single most profound leader in Europe on the question of energy security and independence. It is funny to watch prime ministers and leaders in some of the Western European capitals talk about the energy crisis, when, frankly, they should have been following the policies of Viktor Orbán in Hungary, and if they had, the energy crisis that they’re experiencing would be a lot less bad,” Vance said.

Meanwhile, as Trump’s Tuesday evening deadline for Iran to capitulate gets ever closer, Vance hinted at the trouble that could be soon headed their way:
“The United States has largely accomplished its military objectives,” Vance tells reporters during a visit to Hungary, adding that “there’s going to be a lot of negotiation between now and then” when the US deadline expires, at 0000 GMT Wednesday.
“They’ve got to know we’ve got tools in our toolkit that we so far haven’t decided to use. The president of the United States can decide to use them, and he will decide to use them if the Iranians don’t change their course of conduct,” he adds.
