Based Florida Attorney General Comes After Activist Groups Pushing Transgender Surgery on Minors

I have a lot of family and friends who are Democrats, and when I’m not pounding the keyboards for RedState, I try to be reasonable with them and listen to their ideas. I will politely try to tell them why they’re freaking idiots misguided, but frankly, I usually just avoid engaging in political talk with them because leftists are prone to take the unhinged emotional level up to 11 in a heartbeat. I don’t need that aggravation on Thanksgiving.

There are two subjects, though, that I will give no quarter on; I won’t listen to their ideas on these subjects, nor will I make the slightest attempt to meet in the middle. They are simply wrong — dead wrong — and no amount of pontificating can make them right. Those subjects are: allowing men to play in women’s sports (absolutely ludicrous), and maiming children who experience the psychological malady known as gender dysmorphia (satanic).

Florida’s Republican Attorney General Brian James Uthmeier feels the same way about gender reassignment surgery that I do, and he’s fighting back.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier (R) filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics over an alleged coordinated push to encourage physicians to perform transgender procedures on minors despite the lack of evidence of their safety or efficacy.

“We believe these organizations failed to disclose the risks, limits, and evidence when promoting so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ for children. For years, these groups insisted the recommendations were settled science. But behind closed-doors, they knew the evidence was weak, the outcomes uncertain, and the risks very real,” Uthmeier said in a video shared on social media.

“Children were irrevocably harmed because truth was replaced with political activism.”

Boom, boom, and BOOM. Well said, Mr. AG. Watch:

The pushback against the radical, unscientific surgeries on young people to supposedly affirm their gender identity is not limited to Florida. At least 27 states have either outlawed or banned gender-affirming practices after it became the popular thing to do among the leftist crowd over the last decade or so. (In many of those instances, though, courts are blocking the efforts, because of course they are.)

Multiple “detransitioners,” those who regret their surgeries and feel that they were pushed into doing them, have been speaking out in recent years. Chloe Cole, Helena Kerschner, and Prisha Mosley have been some of the most outspoken champions of ending the practice.

In his video announcing the lawsuit, Uthmeier eloquently outlined exactly what is wrong with this disturbing approach to dealing with young people’s mental struggles:

Parents were not told full story. In fact, some parents were told that if they didn't put their kids through permanent, life altering sick procedures, like double mastectomies and castration, that their child would commit suicide.

Not only is that unethical and dangerous medicine, but it is against the law.

Unfortunately, the "your kid will commit suicide if you don't mutilate them" story is one I've heard many times, and it's disgusting. It's also complete horse manure: studies have been mixed at best, and some show that those who "transition" actually suffer higher rates of killing themselves.

Gender affirming surgery for minors is a deviant and cruel practice, and it never should have been allowed to flourish in the United States of America. Too many were afraid to speak out for fear of being called intolerant or bigoted. Uthmeier is far from the only person fighting back — Donald Trump has been vocal on the matter as well — but I nevertheless say good for him, and good for all those who stand up for putting an end to it for eternity.

As to the featured photo for this article, depicting someone holding a sign saying, "Protect trans kids," I am in total agreement. Protect them from this perverted ideology, and have them wait at least until they are adults to make potentially permanent, life-altering changes to their bodies.

Yes, protect the kids.
