Go Time: Feds Run SoCal Pre-Dawn Raid, Nab Anti-ICE Activists Who Attacked During Pot Farm Operation

In July, ICE agents raided pot farms near Santa Barbara, California, and arrested hundreds of illegal aliens and discovered numerous instances of forced child labor. Law enforcement was met with resistance, ICE vehicles were damaged, and shots were fired.

The Department of Homeland Security wrote at the time (emphasis theirs):

During the operation, more than 500 rioters attempted to disrupt operations. Four U.S. citizens are being criminally processed for assaulting or resisting officers. The rioters damaged vehicles and one violent agitator fired a gun at law enforcement officers. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is now offering $50,000 for any information leading to the arrest of this violent rioter.

In a pre-dawn raid Wednesday in Oxnard, CA, normally a pleasant beach town, they got their agitators, according to Matt Finn at Fox News:

Feds allege Isai Carrillo is part of a group that helped intentionally bottleneck in federal cars then ambush them.

They nabbed Carrillo in a dark alley:

Fox News was exclusively embedded with Homeland Security during the pre-dawn arrest of Isai Carrillo, who was taken down by agents in a dark alleyway.

The pre-dawn raid targeted two anti-ICE activists who federal authorities say played a lead role in the disturbing, viral video that shows activists bottlenecking immigration agent’s cars and then violently smashing-in their windows during a notable pot farm raid in Camarillo, Calif., over the summer.

Meanwhile, Acting US. Attorney for the Bill Essayli said in a statement Wednesday that other suspects were also swept up in the ongoing operations:

Law enforcement has arrested a total of 10 defendants federally charged in three criminal complaints with engaging in violence and civil disorder against law enforcement officers and property during immigration enforcement actions in Southern California earlier this year, the Justice Department announced today.

Ten defendants are in federal custody. One defendant is in state custody and is expected to be handed over to federal authorities. One defendant is a fugitive. All 12 defendants are charged with federal crimes alleging they committed violence against law enforcement authorities and property.

Essayli continued, explaining that during the July raid on the Glass House Farms in Camarillo, numerous protesters, including some from the anti-ICE group “VC Defensa,” built a roadblock to impede ICE vehicles and then threw projectiles at them. At least four government vehicles sustained damage, and there was at least one injury to a federal contract employee.

The two arrested in the pre-dawn Oxnard raid, Virginia Reyes, 32, and Isai Carrillo, 31, were allegedly part of that mob and will now face charges that could buy them up to five years in prison.

As we reported, a federal judge ruled Tuesday that Essayli is not legally eligible to serve as U.S. Attorney until he is confirmed by the Senate. As he’s showing here, though, he’s not slowing down in the slightest.

The DOJ and DHS continue to bring home a reality that some have been having trouble coming to grips with in the advent of the Trump administration: impede ICE and/or assault law enforcement, and you will pay the (heavy) price.
