It was a video that quickly went viral—a scolding Karen at a Philadelphia Phillies game had a public hissy fit when a dad scooped up a home run ball in the stands and joyously gave it to his son. For reasons known only to herself, this Elizabeth Warren lookalike thought she was entitled to the ball, even though she didn’t catch it, and berated the dad until he finally just handed her the prize to make her go away.
Mild profanity:
Make Her Famous: Full blown Karen claims the ball is hers, after a Dad finally gets a home run ball for his Phillies fan son on his birthday, and demands the ball be given to her! The dad, after the Karen went all out bitch mode, gave her the ball. Would you have done the same? pic.twitter.com/DklPMe3Mag

But why would he do that? Why didn’t he stand his ground and tell the lady exactly what she could do with it? Basic decency, and showing his son what maturity is all about:
“I pretty much just wanted her to go away,” Drew Feltwell told NBC10 Philadelphia on Saturday.
Feltwell was one of six excited fans who sprinted toward a home run ball that Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader smacked during Friday night’s matchup against the Marlins at LoanDepot Park in Miami.
He insisted that he was the first and only person to grab the ball from the seats in left field, but a female, gray-haired Phillies fan refused to be a good sport.
He tried to reason with the Karen, but she just would not quit:
“I don’t even remember what she said, it was, you know, a lot of eyes on us by that time and the ball was already in his glove and she just wouldn’t stop and I mean, I’m literally leaning back as she’s in my face yelling and yelling and I pretty much just wanted her to go away because I had a fork in the road: either do something I was probably going to regret or be dad and show him how to deescalate the situation so that’s where I went.”
[Feltman’s son] Lincoln claimed he felt like he had to give the ball to the screaming lady because she was never going to back down.
“I wasn’t very happy that we had to give it to her, but we can’t win,” Lincoln told the outlet.

Two things become apparent with this incident: 1) there are few things more odious than entitled, bitter Karens, and 2) there is still plenty of decency in this world, and the dad showed his son how to be a man. I know some out there will argue that he should have never given up the ball, but if he escalated the situation, it could have led to an even uglier scene that could have permanently defined him in the eyes of his young family.
In the end, his cool head paid off, and the Marlins and the Phillies staffs teamed up to surprise Lincoln with mementos and even a visit with star outfielder Harrison Bader, who was the guy who hit that ball in the stands in the first place. All’s well that ends well, as Shakespeare might say—but I sure do hope that lady is doing some serious soul-searching this weekend. To find out if she even has one, I mean.
Meanwhile, I can’t help but wonder—is the Karen related to this guy?
