Like California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass apparently doesn’t own a mirror. As is the case with the exquisitely coiffed guv, she will look to anything or anyone other than herself to blame for the problems plaguing her city—most recently of course, the violent anti-ICE riots that are now in their sixth day.
Is it the looters who should be held at fault, the vandals perhaps? Nope. For Bass, like Newsom, it’s President Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). You see, everything was just hunky dory before they showed up, according to her.
Speaking at a press conference Wednesday, Ms. Bass went into full-on deflecting mode:
A week ago, everything was peaceful in the city of Los Angeles and in all of the representatives behind me and their cities as well.
Things began to be difficult on Friday when raids took place, and it's important that I begin there, because that is the cause of the problems that have happened in the city of Los Angeles and other cities. This was provoked by the White House.
The reason why, we don't know.

"A week ago, everything was peaceful in the city of Los Angeles," she said. I'm not sure that's ever true anymore these days.
Her implication is that the ICE illegal immigrant roundups caused the flare-up. The problem? Border Czar Tom Homan has repeatedly blown that narrative to smithereens. As our Ward Clark reported, they were cracking down on “specific” criminal enterprises.
I guess Bass thinks that law enforcement doing its job is inflammatory?
He [Homan] said the law enforcement agency was executing warrants on specific criminal activity and noted that the news ignored that, choosing to characterize the actions as wide-ranging immigration raids that were "separating families."
"The facts never got out. Even though we put the facts out, the media didn’t cover it. They just said ‘immigration raids,’ and we’re separating families and all the negative information we hear all the time," Homan told "Morning Joe" co-host Jonathan Lemire.
Newsom and Bass have also tried to say that they had everything in control before Evil Orange Man Bad sent in the National Guard and 700 Marines. Vice President JD Vance nuked that fallacy in a powerful tweet Tuesday, as RedState's Sister Toldjah reported:
Gavin Newsom says he didn't have a problem until Trump got involved. Both of these photos were taken before the president authorized the national guard to go protect our border patrol in California. Does this look like "no problem"?

Gasp! The Legacy Media Didn't Tell the Truth About the Cause of the LA Riots
Bass tried to make enforcing the law an existential crisis and a danger to Democracy:
I posit that maybe we are part of a national experiment to determine how far the federal government can go in reaching in and taking over power from a governor, power from a local jurisdiction and frankly, leaving our city and our citizens, our residents, in fear.
To have people live in fear, like it is today, is just unacceptable.
Right now, the Trump administration is using Los Angeles as a test case.

But that’s exactly why more than 20 mayors and local leaders from across Southern California are here UNITED today — to confront the impact in each of our cities and to say, with one united voice:

The raids must stop. Now.
Sorry, Karen—they're not going to.

The reality is, California’s "sanctuary" obsession and coddling of illegal aliens, along with Joe Biden’s “let-them-all-in” border policies, created this crisis—not Donald Trump. He’s just trying to clean up the mess that these spoiled children made.
In the words of JD Vance:
You sure as hell had a problem before President Trump came along. The problem is YOU.
Editor's Note: President Trump isn't going to allow lawlessness to reign in America. We will not have a repeat of 2020's "Summer of Love."
