Congressman Introduces Bill to Study Dangerous Psychological Condition Known As 'TDS,' and I Had to Laugh

You may have relatives who have it, you know, the ones who start frothing at the mouth with anger if they hear the name “Donald Trump.” Liberals who go from 0 to 90 in .5 seconds flat if they see an image of Orange Man Bad. I even have a neighbor who might spontaneously combust if ever saw any of my columns.

There’s a name for this delusional psychological condition that conservatives use frequently: TDS, or "Trump Derangement Syndrome." Although it’s not officially considered (yet) to be an actual condition that a doctor could diagnose, and it is highly unlikely to appear in any medical literature, there are signs of it everywhere, from screeching Pink Hat protests to psychotic outbursts from folks like actor Robert De Niro.

Now, a congressman wants to get to the bottom of it and has sponsored a bill to study this dangerous scourge. I don’t know if he’s actually serious or if he’s just trolling, but it made me laugh:

Trump has been called an enemy of democracy, a fascist and a dictator akin to Hitler by his political opponents, including from some within his own party.

He has been so heavily demonized that his actions - maybe even his mere existence - has sparked nationwide protests, effigy burnings and two assassination attempts.

So to finally get to the bottom of what is fueling the outrage, Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, introduced the Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) Research Act of 2025 on Thursday to study the phenomenon.

'TDS has divided families, the country, and led to nationwide violence—including two assassination attempts on President Trump,' Davidson told the Daily Mail in a statement.

In fact, we have evidence of this very syndrome at the top of the headlines Thursday:

What would this bill do, exactly?

His [Rep. Davidson's] proposal seeks to leverage the National Institute of Health's existing programs to study the purported disorder.

And it shouldn't cost taxpayers a dime.

'The TDS Research Act would require the NIH to study this toxic state of mind, so we can understand the root cause and identify solutions,' said Davidson.

The bill would provide funds to study TDS symptoms, its origins, long-term effects and intervention methods, according to bill text reviewed by the Daily Mail.

It defines TDS as 'intense, irrational emotional or cognitive reactions to President Donald J. Trump, his actions, or his public presence.'

I’d be very surprised if this bill went anywhere, but if you’re a conservative living in a blue state or city or if you have anti-Trump friends and relatives, you know that TDS is very real. For now, all we can do is keep winning, and then praying for those poor afflicted souls.

Bless their hearts.
