According to an X post from Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, DHS and the Secret Service are "investigating this threat" by former FBI Director James Comey "and will respond appropriately."

ORIGINAL STORY

Well, that didn't take long.

Hours after former FBI Director James Comey posted a photo of shells on a beach arranged to form the numbers "86 47," or 86 President Donald Trump, Comey's deleted the photo and offered a moronic explanation for it.

As my colleague Ward Clark reported, Comey posted the photo to his Instagram account on Thursday with the caption, "Cool shell formation on my beach walk."

The term "86" means to get rid of something, according to Merriam-Webster, and is often used in the restaurant industry as a directive to deny service to a particular patron. However, the term is also used as shorthand for "80 miles out and six feet under," according to multiple sites.

Even if it simply means to get rid of something/someone or to bar them from a certain place (such as a bar or restaurant), when the former FBI Director posts this while POTUS is out of the country, it could be taken as a signal to not allow Trump back into the country - which could take many frightening forms.

Anyway, Comey maintains he just came across this formation on his walk and had no idea what it could mean.

Comey wrote:

"I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message. I didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down."

Ahem, cough, bulls**t, cough.

So if he assumed the shell formation was a political message, probably because of the number 47, what did he think the 86 meant?? Even if he just assumed it meant "get rid of," that can absolutely indicate violence. These are the people who wanted us to believe that Trump using the term "bloodbath" in an economic context was a threat against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and who are hypersensitive to any perceived hint of linguistic violence. I don't buy it.

I don't think he cared one bit that normal Americans thought he was calling for violence; instead, I think this message from current FBI Director Kash Patel got through to him.

Patel wrote:

"We are aware of the recent social media post by former FBI Director James Comey, directed at President Trump. We are in communication with the Secret Service and Director Curran. Primary jurisdiction is with SS on these matters and we, the FBI, will provide all necessary support."

Former Secret Service agent Rich Zeoli appeared on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" to savagely comment on Comey's post.
