A video making the rounds on social media shows a jaw-dropping exchange by then-San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, who bragged at a 2010 Google conference about her power and how she could ruin your life if she chose to do so. “With a swipe of my pen,” she boasted, “…You will be embarrassed in your community.”

In the clip, a glassy-eyed Harris appears to slur, sway, and wave her arms dramatically, but I will let you be the judge of her demeanor.

It’s frankly terrifying that she takes such glee in her ability to ruin your life on a whim. The most disturbing moment comes when she seems to take childlike delight in cavalierly claiming that she could charge you with a crime, but "I may choose to dismiss [it] two weeks later.” 

Cute.

You know the power I have as a prosecutor is that with the swipe of my pen, I can charge someone with a misdemeanor for the lowest level offense possible. And by virtue of that swipe of my pen, you will have to go to a courthouse and stand in line. You will have to come out of pocket and hire an attorney. You may get arrested for a few hours. You will be embarrassed in your community. You will miss time from coming onto the Google campus. 

All because with the swipe of my pen, I've tried to charge you with a crime. Which I may choose to dismiss two weeks later. 

It's an incredible amount of power. 

Kamala supporters on social media are claiming that conservatives are lying by posting the video, saying that she was describing her prosecutorial powers to give warning and arguing that’s why "discretion" and "equity" are so important. “She is explaining WHY prosecutors need to wield that power ethically and with an eye towards equity. STOP LYING,” said one. 

That may or may not have been her intent, but her swaying comportment and her excitement at talking about her magical powers are nevertheless chilling.

Those who contend that she was merely arguing in favor of prosecutorial discretion miss a key point: the kind of harassment she talks about is exactly what we’ve seen for three and half years out of the Biden/Harris Justice Department. They selectively prosecute enemies based on their political affiliation, and have waged a relentless, corrupt campaign against their number one foe, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Harris, even early on in her career, already seems drunk on power and laughably brags about her accomplishments as a tough prosecutor despite the fact that San Franciso is now notorious as one of the most lawless, disgusting cities in America (see: the poop map).

Now that Harris and her newly minted running mate, far-left Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, have taken center stage after the departure of mentally compromised president Joe Biden, their records are coming under increased scrutiny.

The more we find out, the more disturbing it becomes.
