We reported on Thursday's shocking footage from the southern border in El Paso, Texas, where a mob of illegal immigrants stormed the security fences and clashed with Texas National Guard troops in a chaotic, dangerous scene. If you haven't seen the clip, it's harrowing:

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre knows exactly who's to blame, though, and it's not her boss, the president, or his incompetent administration, or Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas—it's Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Sometimes your jaw just drops when you hear the excuses from this crew. Asked about the video at Friday's press briefing, KJP said she thought she shouldn't be queried about the El Paso mini-riot, Abbott should:
What I can say is this: I really truly believe that’s a question for the Republican governor of Texas. Right? This is something he should address. That he should actually speak to. The president has worked with Congress and the Senate about getting an immigration bill done, making sure that we deal with the border challenges, that we are now seeing.
And you have a governor of Texas who is continuing to politicize this.

She went on to say that these problems would be solved if only Congress passed the terrible border bill that the Senate GOP blocked in February. Newsflash to KJP: Abbott is a governor and therefore has no vote on whether the bill is passed or not.
Meanwhile, he actually has tried to take meaningful action at the border—putting up deterrents such as razor wire and utilizing the Texas National Guard—only to be kneecapped by the administration every step of the way.
She also preposterously claimed the administration has "done the work." If that's the case, why do we have a new record of illegals crossing virtually every month?

The White House meanwhile had another person to blame, and once again, it wasn't themselves and their terrible policies (hint, he used to be president):

Of course, we knew this endless Biden blaming was coming because he planned it all along:
Greg Abbott is nobody's fool, however, and his team lashed out at the gaslighting attempts by the White House in a statement Friday:
“The mental gymnastics from the Biden Administration are astonishing,” Andrew Mahaleris, press secretary for Abbott, told the Daily Caller.
“Yesterday’s surge in El Paso is the direct result of the unsustainable chaos President Biden has unleashed on the border. Texas will continue to utilize every tool and strategy to deter and repel illegal crossings as President Biden’s dangerous open border policies encourage migrants from over 150 countries to make unsafe and illegal crossings between ports of entry.”
This border crisis is entirely of Joe Biden's making—he virtually assured a tsunami on his first day in office when he gutted Trump's far more successful policies—and he has no one to blame but himself. As we've seen time and time again, however, this White House will pass the buck to everyone and everything else and yet never look in the mirror.
