The White House said Monday afternoon that Special Counsel Robert Hur interviewed President Joe Biden on Sunday and Monday regarding his handling of classified documents

Could the interviews be the reason behind the WH calling a lid at 11:46 AM Monday, meaning that we would not see or hear from the president for the rest of the day despite a war breaking out over the weekend?

Hur was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland. A White House spokesperson revealed the news in a statement:

Spokesperson Ian Sams said in a statement that the interview was voluntary and conducted at the White House on Sunday and Monday. The interview concluded Monday, Sams said...

Sams reiterated that Biden and the White House are cooperating. He referred questions to the Justice Department.

“As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, and as it has been appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being as transparent as we can consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation,” Sams said. “We would refer other questions to the Justice Department at this time.”

As my colleague Nick Arama reported, "Joe Biden had classified documents all over the place -- at his office, in his home, and out in his garage, next to the Corvette." Arama also revealed that several key Biden aides have already been interviewed.

Is this an indication that the DOJ is actually taking this matter seriously and is close to a conclusion?

The interview[s] played out amid the dramatic events in the Middle East, as Hamas militants carried out a major attack on Israel and Mr. Biden met with his national security team and consulted with foreign leaders. The interview’s timing had been arranged several weeks ago, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The interview raises the possibility that Mr. Hur is nearing the end of his investigation, which the Justice Department began after Mr. Biden’s lawyers reported that they had found several classified documents mixed in with other papers in a storage closet while packing up an office Mr. Biden had used in between being vice president and running for president.

One would like to think that the DOJ is finally turning away from the two-tiered system of justice it has been practicing since the president took office, but based on their past behavior, it's difficult to believe. Former President Donald Trump had classified documents in his possession, so the FBI sent agents to raid his home, Mar-a-Lago. Joe Biden had classified documents in his possession, so he got a voluntary interview on his own schedule.

I'm not holding my breath.
