Some things are easy to comprehend, even for the smallest of children. Our elders teach us that cheating is wrong, period. Dishonesty is not okay. And when we become adults, at least when most people do, we understand that our republican system of government protects us by the grace of God through the inalienable rights set forth in the U.S. Constitution. Among the most cherished of those rights are the voting protections afforded to U.S. citizens. The last two words are important.
As readers may know, the U.S. Senate is debating the SAVE America Act on Saturday, meant to put in place common sense safeguards of those rights. One area that the Democrats harp on over and over again is requiring an official photo ID to register, and to show up to vote at the polls.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) took to the floor of the Senate on Saturday evening, and proceeded to lay out the hard truth on Dems' nonsensical argument that requiring valid ID goes against the constitutionally-protected right to vote.

Voting is a constitutionally protected right.

All the more reason to ensure it is exercised by AMERICANS ONLY.
Those who say otherwise just want to cheat. It’s that simple. pic.twitter.com/Iqw6zqGxZm
"They [the Democrats] say, 'Well, it's [voting] a constitutionally-protected right. Darn right it is! And it's our job to make sure that that's protected. But the fact that it's a constitutionally-protected right in no way, shape, or form means that we have to make it easy to vote, and screw the rest. Let's let them cheat."
"Their mantra appears to be, 'Make it easy to vote and screw the rest, we don't care.'" Sen. Lee said. He added that it's an obsession with the Democrats; they seem to care about nothing else. But that comes with problems: the risk of increasing voter fraud, "something that they claim doesn't exist," Lee pointed out, and that it's a Republican "paranoid fantasy" they have made up.
Lee said that the Dems "ignore that when we allow [voter fraud] to happen," the American people are in effect disenfranchised "because their vote matters less." The votes of people "who might not be eligible to do so" in their district cancel them out, he said.
He ridiculed the idea of requiring an ID as "disenfranchisement," asking whether that also could be said about the process when people try to get a new job.
He hammered the faulty argument by the Left on constitutionally protected voting forcefully, stating, "That's not a rational conclusion, unless of course your objective is to facilitate noncitizen fraudulent voting in our elections, to the disenfranchisement of actual American citizens who are there to vote. This is not a victimless crime! And shame on my colleagues for suggesting otherwise."
He also reminded everyone that there is always another reason Democrats stand against something: "Orange Man Bad" is for it. That's an argument that will never make sense.
Senator Mike Lee just NAILED IT on the Democrat game on the SAVE America Act.
"Most so-called blue states" REFUSE to share voter data with DHS because they know it would expose illegal aliens in active voter rolls.
Their excuse boils down to "ORANGE MAN BAD."
“Their argument that ‘TRUMP BAD’ equals no state should have to share its data, even where necessary in order to weed out FRAUD in federal elections.”
"That argument isn't good.”
The arguments our liberal friends have to defend their views on this issue, as the late, great Ronald Reagan used to call them, get more and more bizarre and indefensible. Pity the poor people at The Babylon Bee:
I have this vision of Babylon Bee writers waking up in cold sweats worrying that their satire just can’t compete with the real Mazie Hirono. pic.twitter.com/c2tBx0YcCh

As crazy as Sen. Maizie Hirono (D-HI) sounds there, it seems more like a silly Yoga Berra-ism than a serious argument on how our elections are secured for future generations.
My colleague at Townhall, Larry O'Connor, nails it here. You truly can't find a dumber argument than what the Dems' upper chamber leader, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) chose to trot out Saturday in the Senate chamber:
"Almost no illegal immigrants are voting."@LarryOConnor rips Schumer's dumbest argument against the SAVE America Act yet.
