Pickaway County, Ohio, isn't a place that's known for pickles, but that may be changing now. In one of the summer's more vinegar-soaked traffic incidents, a truck has crashed on State Route 316 in Pickaway County, spilling its cargo of pickles.
That's right. Those pickles won't be dill-ivered.

The roadway is currently closed due to a crash involving a truck hauling pickles. Thankfully, the driver was uninjured. The pickles, however, are speared.

One report from a local outlet, the Columbus Dispatch, has some details.
A truck hauling pickles overturned on State Route 316 in Monroe Township, spilling its cargo across the roadway and into a nearby ditch, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash happened around 6:35 a.m. on SR 316 near Dennis Road, about 50 yards east of the intersection. According to the crash report, the westbound semi traveled outside the marked lanes, went into a ditch and rolled onto its side before sliding across the pavement. The crash left the truck with disabling damage and scattered its cargo across the roadway and into the ditch.
After such a mishap, the driver, who we were glad to see was unhurt, may well need a tro-pickle vacation. That is, after he pays a fine, and probably finds a new job, after being involved in this scan-dill.
According to the sheriff's office, the driver was cited for a lane violation.
SR 316 remained closed for more than seven hours while crews cleared the wreckage and spilled cargo, according to the crash report. The roadway was shut down from approximately 6:48 a.m. until 2:12 p.m.

The pickle spill is the latest unusual cargo cleanup on central Ohio roads. Earlier this month, about 40,000 pounds of Frank's RedHot sauce spilled across Interstate 71 in Delaware County after a semi crash, forcing crews to clean up the interstate for several hours.
Now, one would think, if they only spilled some chicken wings somewhere nearby, you'd have a party in the making.

Now, we should note that these were not uncured cucumbers. There is a process to making a pickle from a cucumber, and let me tell you, it's jarring. My wife does it regularly, and her pickles are dill-icious, to the point where you'll relish every bite. When our kids were young, they used to enjoy them while watching Pickle-odeon.
In this curious case from Ohio, though, it's enough that nobody was hurt, but it's a shame that all those pickles were wasted. One would, after all, have to be brine-washed to eat pickles off the road, as there is no way the Ohio food safety authorities would allow them to be released for public consumption. No, fortunately, the odds of that would appear to be microsco-pickle.
This seems appropriate.
