New York's communist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has regularly revealed himself to be a real piece of... work. He's abysmally ill-informed, and he appears to harbor a lot of hate for a country that took him in, making it something of a mystery as to why he left his wealthy family's expansive Uganda compound. Unless, of course, you assume that gaining control of one of America's largest cities was the goal all along.
Now, on Friday, the day before we celebrated 250 years of American liberty, Mayor Mamdani took the opportunity to trash America, and to add insult to injury, we see that the commie mayor did so from behind a desk that once belonged to George Washington, although his people set it up facing the wrong way. Mamdani was able to talk a load of Schiff about America regardless. He had to attempt some damage control later, on Saturday, when he attempted to walk it back. But the mask is off.
Today marks 250 years since a small group of newspaper editors, farmers, and soldiers signed a document declaring our nation’s independence — a truth that feels self-evident now but was revolutionary then.

Here's the text of his weak and apologetic post:
Today marks 250 years since a small group of newspaper editors, farmers, and soldiers signed a document declaring our nation’s independence — a truth that feels self-evident now but was revolutionary then.
What a privilege us Americans have, to live in a nation that every one of its inhabitants can shape. What an honor us New Yorkers have, to look out over our city’s waters from the shores where so many Americans bravely entered their country for the first time.
Today and all days, let us remember that patriotism is not pretending our nation is without flaws. Patriotism is every act of righteous dissent — because loving our country means fighting for the best version of it.
Happy Fourth of July, New York City.
Yeah, nobody's buying it, dude.
Talk about an ingrate. Our sister site Twitchy had some reactions.
We can't help but wonder if there was some snap internal polling among the Democrats after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani delivered this speech yesterday while flanked by people he said are naturalized citizens:
JUST IN: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani used America’s 250th anniversary to sharply criticize the country, accusing the U.S. of allowing children to go hungry while billionaires and “oligarchs” gain more power.

The X post reads:
JUST IN: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani used America’s 250th anniversary to sharply criticize the country, accusing the U.S. of allowing children to go hungry while billionaires and “oligarchs” gain more power.
He said America’s wealth was built by working people with “calloused, dirt-streaked hands" while accusing the country of allowing the wealth built by workers to be concentrated in “the soft hands of a precious few.”
What an enormous steaming pile of corral litter. We have real leaders speaking, serious people who love America, and then along comes this commie with his message of hate for the country that took him in.

Zohran Mamdani Shows You How You Can Use a Little Bit of Truth to Sell a Big Lie
X users promptly piled on, not the least of which was Elon Musk himself:
Mamdani has built nothing. He is a taker, never a maker.

The commie mayor's X post got roundly dragged as well, and deservedly so; you can see that thread here.
The New York Post chimed in as well, in a house editorial:
Mamdani retold the history of the United States Friday morning as an unending parade of horrors, an unwelcoming autocracy ruled by the wealthy and powerful.
Even the mass migration into Ellis Island was turned into a parable of the oppressed.
“They could not yet see the nativism they would face — the jobs they would be refused, the landlords who would not rent to them, the abject labor and living conditions they would withstand,” Mamdani said.
Scores of immigrants succeeded here not because of the freedom to start your own business, pursue your own ideas, and forge your own path.
No, it was “despite laws enacted by the federal government to bar their entry, despite sweatshop fires that killed hundreds of women, despite riots aimed at their very existence.”
Oh, the irony! A wealthy Ugandan nepo-baby complaining about America. The claim about children going hungry is especially egregious; if the United States has any problem with our kids and their diets, it's that we have the fattest kids in the world, and that problem is exacerbated, not by Elon Musk or any other wealthy people, but by government handouts that allow the irresponsible poor to let their little tubbies gorge themselves on sugary drinks, pastries, candy bars and chips. That claim about kids going hungry is a lie, a deliberate, outrageous lie.
But then, lying is what commies do best.
Now, the communist mayor has as much as thrown down the gauntlet. Oh, he made a weak effort to dial it back, but nobody's buying it. New York, very likely as a result of the Great Sorting that has driven almost all of the Big Apple's productive residents away to greener pastures in Texas and Florida, has elected an open, America-hating communist.
Now, the whole country has seen the truth. Let's just hope it's not too late.
