It's happened again: In New Jersey, during an attempted apprehension of someone who is presumably in the United States illegally, an Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent was struck by the suspect's vehicle. The ICE agent fired at the vehicle, after which the driver reportedly fled the scene. The ICE agent was injured but is expected to recover.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent was struck by a fleeing suspect's vehicle and opened fire during an attempted apprehension in New Jersey on Monday morning, authorities said, as the suspect escaped and remained on the run.
The confrontation unfolded shortly after 9:30 a.m. along Route 72 in Manahawkin, where federal immigration agents were attempting to take a suspect into custody, according to the Stafford Township Police Department.
The individual allegedly struck an ICE agent while fleeing in a vehicle, police said.
This has become a disturbing trend, with goblins attempting to strike federal agents with their vehicles, either in flight or attempting to interfere with officers in the conduct of their duties.
As of this writing, it's unknown whether or not the suspect was hit by the agent's fire, although reports indicate the vehicle was hit - but remained mobile.
The agent fired at the vehicle, which was reportedly hit by gunfire, but the suspect drove away and had not been located as of Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
The extent of the agent's injuries are unknown, and it is unclear whether the suspect was wounded.
So, for now, the manhunt for what we presume is an illegal alien continues.

Since President Trump resumed office and began the federal crackdown on illegal immigration, vehicular assaults on federal agents have skyrocketed. A January 2026 report from the Department of Homeland Security describes a 3,200 percent increase in vehicular assaults against federal officers.
Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released new statistics on assaults against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) law enforcement who now face a more than 1,300% increase in assaults, a 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks against them, and an 8,000% increase in death threats.
Sanctuary politicians have created an environment that encourages rampant assaults on law enforcement.
During the first year of the Trump administration, from January 20 – December 31, 2025, DHS officials reported 275 assaults as compared to the 19 reported assaults during the same period in 2024. This is a horrific 1,347% increase in assaults against ICE officers.
From January 21, 2025 – January 7, 2026, ICE law enforcement officers experienced 66 vehicular attacks against them, compared to only 2 during the same time period the previous year. This is a 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks.
This horrific trend is certainly in no small part due to the ever-increasingly inflammatory rhetoric from the left, who are fond of referring to ICE as "Trump's Gestapo" and other, similarly unhinged epithets, even though ICE is carrying out the same operations and enforcing the same laws they have been tasked with enforcing since the creation of the agency. During the Biden administration, granted, they were ordered to stand down, in effect; this was a disastrous decision that has allowed millions to enter the country illegally. Many of those unscreened, unvetted illegal aliens are still here, presenting an enforcement headache and placing officers in danger due to the unhinged rhetoric and interference of the left.
In this case, the officer struck is expected to recover. But if this trend continues, if the left keeps up with the agitation, it's only a matter of time before something worse happens.
