Another Year, Another CA Girls' High School Track Meet Hijacked by Male Athletes

If California Republicans need yet another reason (out of endless reasons) to get to the polls this fall, then the fact that California schools are still allowing boys to compete in girls' sports is just such a reason. This practice is unfair to the girls, and it's in violation of the Trump administration's interpretation of Title IX; most of all, it flies in the face of human biology.

That isn't stopping these males from pushing their way into girls' sports leagues, but now the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is trying to split the baby by putting the top-scoring girl up on the top tier of the podium with a boy. That has to be awkward, to say the very least.

Trans AB Hernandez (a biological male) sparks fury after dominating girls’ track events and sharing podium under bizarre California rule
AB Hernandez from Jurupa Valley High School won the long jump, high jump and triple jump at the CIF Southern Section finals in Moorpark, California.
Hernandez won the long jump by more than a foot and the triple jump by nearly two feet, and tied for first in the high jump.
Under a controversial CIF “pilot program” introduced last year, any biological girl who finishes behind a trans athlete is automatically declared a co-champion and shares the top podium step.
This led to awkward scenes: in the high jump both Hernandez and Gwnneth Mureika stood together on the top step, while in other events rival girls were absent from the podium.
The rule was brought in amid previous protests and is continuing for the rest of the postseason. Hernandez now advances to the CIF preliminaries next Saturday.

This is way past ridiculous. AB Hernandez is a boy. He has all of the physical advantages of being a boy. These are facts. And yet, CIF is trying to find a workaround by, in effect, establishing a "consolation prize" category for the girl that should have been on the top step by herself. This isn't addressing the underlying issue, and it isn't addressing CIF's Title IX violation. It's just a cynical attempt to keep the vocal pro-transgender lobby appeased, and it's hurting the girls who have worked so hard for so long to get to this level, only to have the top spot taken by a boy.

Yes, that's a second biological male cosplaying as a girl in order to win track meets.

Here's the thing: We focus much of our attention on the biology of all this, how boys are competing unfairly against the girls and why, how these boys, some (maybe most) of whom likely do not actually suffer from gender dysphoria, are using the "transgender" claim as a loophole to win awards, titles, records and recognition they would otherwise be unable to obtain, were they competing against other boys.

But, as we note here, in too many places, in too many educational institutions, boys and men are intruding on the safe spaces designated for girls and women; not just bathrooms but locker rooms, changing rooms, and showers. They are, in effect, erasing girls and women.

Trends are bending back to sanity on this issue; slowly, but it's happening. California, though, it seems, will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, back to sanity.
