Even New Hampshire Democrats Wish Hillary Clinton Would Go Away

When will Hillary Clinton just go away?

Losing the 2016 election did something to her, something bad. Losing a close election can make the losing candidate come somewhat unglued; just look at Al Gore's behavior after his loss to George W. Bush in 2000. Now, Hillary Clinton's loss to Donald Trump wasn't that close, but she still seems to have been driven a little daffy by it.

Now we learn that it's not just Republicans who would like Mrs. Clinton to just go away. Turns out some New Hampshire Democrats feel the same way.

While a growing number of potential contenders for the next Democratic presidential nomination have made stops in New Hampshire, as well as in South Carolina and Nevada, two other key early primary states, Clinton said in an interview last month she would not run for president again and that the party had a "good bench."

Instead, Clinton will headline the New Hampshire Democratic Party's (NHDP) annual spring fundraising dinner. The state party announced the news Thursday and said the gala, the McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner, would be held April 25 in Nashua, New Hampshire.

That doesn't seem like too much of an ask for a washed-up old has-been of a politician, but New Hampshire lefties are nevertheless unhappy about the choice.

Responding to the news, a longtime progressive leader in New Hampshire, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, told Fox News Digital, "Although this may be a good invite to raise money for the party, it is another example of how completely tone-deaf the party is to the need for real change.

"As exemplary as Hillary Clinton’s conduct was with respect to the Epstein congressional subpoena, she’s yesterday’s news, hasn’t offered a new idea in decades and doesn’t serve the needs of building a new Democratic majority in New Hampshire."

There's one key point here we have to agree with: Hillary Clinton has indeed not had a new idea in decades. In fact, I'm not all that sure she has ever had a new idea, her amazing expertise in predicting cattle futures notwithstanding.

Hosting fundraisers is a common thing for semi-retired pols to do. Former presidents, former members of Congress, former governors, and the like. But normally, the parties try to pick someone to headline their fundraisers who has, you know, actually succeeded at something.  Hillary Clinton hasn't. From being a First Lady who reportedly had a penchant for throwing things at people, to a carpetbagger Senator from New York, a state in which she never lived, to being the worst Secretary of State in the history of the republic, to being a failed presidential candidate, she's fumbled every job she's had. So, why pick her? Was her husband not available? Bill did, after all, win two presidential elections, whereas Hillary never won one.

We might note that one of the few times Barack Obama showed any real political acumen was in his appointment of Mrs. Clinton as SecState. Why? He was clearly operating under the old maxim, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Mrs. Clinton should take a quarter to the corner store and buy a clue. New Hampshire Democrats are tired of her being around. So is everyone else.
