New House Doc Dump Reveals More Weaponization of Biden-Era DOJ

It's getting so we can almost set our watches by it: Another day, another revelation about the Biden administration's weaponization of the federal law-enforcement apparatus. This time, it's the Republican members of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, blowing open another tranche of Arctic Frost documents. It was under this investigation that, among other things, the DOJ subpoenaed the phone records of several Republican officials and elected representatives.

The Judiciary Committee took to their official X account to break the news.

The post continues:

-Arctic Frost investigators utilized FBI field offices from across the country to conduct its investigation.

-Arctic Frost investigators requested $16,600 to travel to conduct more than 40 interviews.

-45 individuals including, Steve Bannon, Scott Perry, Rudolph Giuliani, Jeffrey Clark, John Eastman, and Mark Meadows were potentially under investigation.

-Another 111 individuals including Peter Navarro, Dan Scavino, Jeff Rosen, and Ed Martin were also potentially under investigation.

Other Republicans' records subpoenaed include at least nine Senators: Ted Cruz (R-TX), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). It's not clear what these senators were under investigation for, or why their records were sought. Unless, of course, we presume that this was 1) harassment and 2) a fishing expedition; then all this starts to make a little more sense.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) had some sharp words about Special Counsel Jack Smith and how the Arctic Frost investigation unfolded:

It's tempting to point at Joe Biden as being behind all this, but that's probably not too likely, given his sadly obvious mental and physical deterioration, especially in the last year of his presidency. In fact, it may well have been then-President Biden's diminished capacity that encouraged administration officials to engage in all manner of harassment, not that Joe Biden wouldn't have approved; but his failing meant that no such approval was required, or even possible.

That leads to a question, of course, that we have been asking since shortly after Joe Biden assumed office in January of 2021: Who really was in charge in the White House in those years, anyway?

The one vital takeaway from all this? If Democrats accuse Republicans of some abuse of power, it seldom fails that the Democrats have already been doing it themselves. That follows as surely as feeding a bull leads to the stuff you have to shovel, which is appropriate, as that's what Democrats have been pushing on us in these investigations.
