The Schumer Shutdown is still going on, and there aren't any signs of an imminent deal. At the end of the current week comes November 1st, and on that date comes a whole new round of impacts, including the cessation of SNAP benefits. President Trump has been (correctly) pointing out that a few Senate Democrats have been holding the country hostage over this. Speaking to the press pool on Air Force One during his ongoing Asian tour, the president once again pointed out that the Democrats could reopen the government at any time.
"Democrats are holding it up. They want $1.5T for... illegal aliens that come into our country," says @POTUS on the Democrat Shutdown.

"That will really hurt the health care that we have in the country and, frankly, we'd like to see better health care — period." pic.twitter.com/TaqiyHAKpB
The president said:
The Democrats could just do a simple extension. That's the best way. The Democrats are holding it up. They want $1.5 trillion for people who came out of prison, for illegal aliens coming into our country, and we don't want to do that. Because that will help... Really hurt the healthcare that we have in our country. And, frankly, we'd rather see better healthcare. We're not looking to do that. The Democrats could solve that problem with air traffic control; all they have to do is say "the country's open." We only need five votes. The Republicans are with us. We only need five votes. Let's see what happens. I would imagine that gets figured here. Not only the controllers, but other people too.
The situation here remains the same: the same two Democrats and one independent are willing to buck their party and reopen the federal government. If they don't, on November 1st, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits will be suspended or delayed. So will the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children program. Federal workers will keep missing paychecks. Air traffic could be badly affected as TSA and FAA personnel are furloughed. And a key aspect of President Trump's agenda, the immigration courts, may also be affected.
The president also spoke on the national economy:
"Our country is doing so well economically — it's doing so incredibly well. The Democrats should let it open. I guess they don't do that because it's doing so well," says @POTUS on the Democrat Shutdown.

"We just want people to get paid. We think it's very unfair." pic.twitter.com/KYUy0tcEb8
On this topic, the president said:
Our country's doing so well, economically. So incredibly well. The Democrats should let it open. I guess they don't do that because it's doing so well. It's too bad. But on the macro scale, it's not happening. That kind of thing. We just want people to get paid. We think it's very unfair. And how about the man who put up $130 million to make sure our military got paid? (Murmuring from the press) I won't tell you. I won't tell you. This is a person who called me, who said, "Sir, I'd like to make a contribution of any difference needed for the United States military. I said, "I don't know, that could be a big number." And we worked it out, it was about $130 million, and he wrote a check for $130 million, because he's an unbelievable patriot. And that's what it's all about.
That's the thing: It's not in the Democrats' best interests to keep the economy humming. Not while President Trump is still in office. Their best chances in the midterms and the 2028 presidential election are to run on a bad economy. It seems a cynical observation to note that they may well be choosing to try to torpedo the economy to improve their election odds, so they can regain power and... well, torpedo the economy. But honestly, how big a surprise would that be?

Finally, the president made this cogent statement:
.@POTUS: "How transparent is the Trump Administration?... We're not saying, 'Please don't ask this question.' You can ask anything you want. There's never been anything like this."

MOST TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION IN HISTORY! pic.twitter.com/vNcyKUwHYL
How transparent is the Trump administration? You got Scott, you got Jameson, you got Marco, we're not saying to you "Please, don't ask this question." You can ask anything you want. There's never been anything like this. You agree with that?
This much is certain. The legacy media may not care for President Trump's answers or the answers of the administration, but they get answers. There are no more 3x5 cards with a reporter's picture and a pre-approved question they will ask, along with the answer. Transparency is what they are getting, whether they like it or not.
In a few days, unless something happens in the meantime, the Schumer Shutdown will hit the one-month mark. Stay tuned.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
