Frying Pan, Meet Fire: Tim Walz Announces Re-Election Bid

Townhall Media

Look, Kamala Harris did some astonishingly dumb things in her 2024 run for president, not least of which was thinking she had any chance of election in the first place. But one of the most staggeringly dumb things she did was to select Minnesota's leftie governor, Tim "Great Walz of China," to be her VP pick. I mean, when someone is running for president, they normally pick someone who brings something to the ticket. Case in point: JD Vance brought a wonderfully compelling life story, conservative credentials, and youthful energy to the Trump ticket. But Tim Walz brought... what? He's a leftist from a lefty state; the Democrats could run a stuffed armadillo for president, and Minnesota would vote for it. It was a baffling pick, especially when a more moderate option, like Joe Manchin, might have helped some.

Oh, wait. Joe Manchin left the Democratic Party in May of 2024. Maybe because the Democrats have gone crazy enough to think Tim Walz is a good VP choice.

But since China Tim didn't get the chance to help Kamala Harris wreck the country, he's running for a third shot at wrecking Minnesota.

Check out that shiny-clean International Harvester Scout behind him. That truck has never been off pavement; I'd bet on it. Oh, Tim's people made sure to associate him with farmers, and welders, and other regular working folks, and it's just about as convincing as that time Tim tried to load his own shotgun and fumbled it.

What a joke.

Tim Walz's Vile Comment About Trump Death Rumor Gets Blasted Into Next Week

Tim Walz is, of course, a walking litany of liabilities. His long association with China, his fake outdoorsiness, his sanctimonious dismissal of anyone with political views to the tight of Leon Trotsky... Well, he may have actually been the ideal running mate for Kamala Harris, at least as far as her amazingly inept campaign staff saw it.

Here's a pretty good synopsis of this goofball:

The Democrat who got his political start in southern Minnesota gained the state’s top job in a 2018 win. He presided over the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 murder of George Floyd and unrest that followed. He’s worked with a divided government during most of his tenure at the Capitol and pointed to his work with a narrowly split Legislature this year to enact a $66 billion two-year budget bill this year.

Walz has also come under scrutiny for COVID-era nutrition and housing assistance programs that have fallen prey to misuse by bad actors. He took a turn on the national political stage last year after being chosen by Kamala Harris to join her presidential ticket. After a three-month sprint, the Democratic ticket lost and Walz returned to a different political landscape.

Minnesota Republicans called attention to the national loss and the fraud in state programs as they responded to Walz’s announcement on Tuesday.

“The American people looked at Tim Walz and said, ‘no thanks,’” gubernatorial candidate Rep. Kristin Robbins, R-Maple Grove, said. “Now it’s time for Minnesota to do the same!”

Minnesota Republicans are right. But, sad to say, Tim Walz will probably win his re-election bid, and Minnesota will continue its decline. It's the old story: A state dominated by one major deep-blue population center.

Maybe the outlying areas could band together, join North Dakota, and leave Minneapolis/St. Paul isolated? Seems like a pretty appropriate response.
