Israeli Actress Gal Gadot Speaks Up for Israel, Is Shocked by the Hate She's Receiving

Hollywood just gets worse by the day. There used to be some toleration, with all but the worst of the Hollywood left, of differing views. John Wayne, for example, was an outspoken conservative for his time and was still well-regarded and respected by his fellows.

That doesn't seem to be the case any longer. Israeli actress Gal Gadot, who served in the Israel Defense Forces and who is an A-list actress today, was very vocal about her support for her homeland after the brutal and atrocious Oct 7th attacks by Hamas, and has been shocked and dismayed by the hate she has received because of that support:

Israeli actress Gal Gadot defended her decision to continue speaking out against Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023 massacre in Israel, saying in an interview she was "shocked" by how much vitriol she faced for her stance.

In an interview ahead of her receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday – which was nearly disrupted by a clash between anti-Israel and pro-Israel demonstrators – the actress said that speaking up about the terror attack more than a year ago was more important than staying silent and avoiding controversy.

"I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up," the actress told Variety.

She spoke up. We should remember that, unlike most of Hollywood's glitterati, Gal Gadot has worn her country's uniform, which gives her a vastly different perspective from that of most of her colleagues. She's not backing down, either:

Gadot, the "Wonder Woman" star who portrays the evil queen in Disney’s upcoming "Snow White" remake, condemned the Hamas terror attack the day that it happened.

"I stand with Israel, you should too," Gadot posted on Instagram on October 7. "The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!"

Since then, she has posted videos and photos of the hostages still being held captive by Hamas, along with the hashtag #NoHostageLeftBehind.

Gadot also spearheaded a Hollywood screening of 47 minutes of Israeli Defense Forces footage of the atrocities committed on Oct. 7 one month after the attack.

Honestly, any civilized person should be standing with Israel now. The October 7th attacks were acts of unimaginable barbarity, perpetrated by people filled with the kind of hate we civilized people have a hard time understanding. Gal Gadot may stand with Israel because she is Israeli herself, but we'd like to think any person of decency would agree with her.

Unfortunately, there seem to be a fair number of indecent people in the world, and they aren't all in Hollywood. Even, we hear, Gal Gadot's co-star in the re-imagined live-action "Snow White" disagrees with her in this.

And honestly, Disney, your casting decisions in the "Snow White" grenade: This is a story that begins with a queen worried about remaining "the fairest of them all." Casting Gal Gadot as the queen made the other poor actress, Rachel Zegler, look like a poor little sparrow trying to compete with one of these magnificent scarlet cockatoos that calls all night in the jungle. The mirror, when the queen first asked the fateful question, should have simply responded "You are, Your Highness, not even close." Roll credits.

Who the heck is responsible for that casting choice? They need to get into a different line of work.
