On Thursday night, following an evening that was cringier than a Zoom call with Jeffrey Toobin, Vice President Kamala Harris came on stage and actually spoke to a crowd of people. OK, they were friendly people who would never dream of fact-checking anything she says, no matter how ludicrous.
But former President Donald Trump harbors no such reservations. While Harris was speaking, so was Trump, calling out her claims, point by point, on his Truth Social media platform.
Here are some of the highlights.
The former president asked one great question right away:
In this question, I would caution Pres. Trump against asking questions to which you really don't want to know the answer.
This set the tone, with the former president answering the current vice president, not live on video, but via social media posts. The replies came, if you will, fast and furious. And Harris started slow, not talking about current affairs, but in nebulous terms about her time in San Francisco and as Attorney General of California; of course, we all know how that turned out. Kamala Harris was clearly trying to burnish her image as "tough on crime."

Vice President Harris was short on specifics and long on vague generalities; Donald Trump was not:
And while Harris claimed Donald Trump is an "unserious man," she didn't address her failures as "Border Czar":
What's interesting about Harris' entire speech is that she actually said very little about her own views, her own agenda, or what she intends to do as president if, fate forbid, she is elected. She spent almost the entire time bashing Donald Trump - and claiming, dishonestly, that the Supreme Court had handed him blanket immunity, which is not true. But that wasn't the only untruth she was called out on:
Her statements on her proposals, her policies, and her agenda, were vague - except where they were horrible:
And here's an interesting point; Kamala Harris has been vice president for three-and-a-half years. Three-and-a-half years - and none of these things she proposes, strangely, have been done:
But perhaps the most adamant response the former president made had to do with Harris's frankly dishonest statements about Roe v. Wade and related issues.
"BECAUSE THE INVASION OF OUR COUNTRY AT HER OPEN BORDER IS DESTROYING THE LIVES OF WOMEN, AND THE FAMILIES AND JOBS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS AND HISPANICS."
She has the nerve, after serving with Joe Biden and his family, to claim Trump can be swayed by promises of favors? And, as Donald Trump was at the border only today, Thursday, it's important to note that Kamala Harris said essentially nothing about the border - and Trump called that out, too.
You can view all of Donald Trump's responses on Truth Social.
The upshot? As always: Kamala Harris can't tell the difference between the truth and a lie. That's what it all boils down to. Donald Trump can think on his feet. He can react and answer unscripted questions, and react to unscripted talking points, quickly, smoothly, and accurately. Kamala Harris can do none of those things.
