I hate to sound like it seems that there is nothing that can be done about the current state of the United States of America. I know that on my Monday, Wednesday, and Friday live show on Duke Over America, which you could sign up to watch right here at 10:00 a.m. EDT on those days, or on my radio show on WAAM 1600 A.M. & 92.7 F.M. in Ann Arbor Michigan, it seems I'm trending heavily in that direction.
However, I do feel I have one saving grace, and that is you laugh when you can because otherwise anger and crying follow, and that is never a good look.
I mean, it might work for you but not so much for moi.
When the attack on Israel happened a week ago Saturday, I remember getting a rock-in-the-stomach feeling that had nothing to do with eating fast food the night before and everything to do with thoughts rolling around in my mind about things I had read here at RedState. Mostly about the stream of human beings rolling across our border freely.
From my post:
We have had pretty much a wide-open border since January 20, 2021, when Joe Biden took the oath of office to be President of the United States. The administration stopped building the Trump border wall and did everything but send flyers down to Central America and the rest of the world so that they could skip across the Rio Grande and gain entry without authorities checking they are. Of course, this policy was just reversed within the past week, but it's really a case of too little too late.
So if I have my math correct from Ward's count above, he quotes about 3.8 million people who have illegally crossed since Scranton Joe took the helm. So let's do an odd thing and LOWER that number to 3 million people. Now we take those 3 million folks and estimate that approximately one-quarter of one percent have some evil intent; that gives us 7,500 such people in this country illegally. Now they could be just bank robbers or common thieves, possibly some murders or other dastardly things.
If you increase the percentage, you increase the total number, and does that make you feel safe?
What are the chances it is more?
If you pay attention to the news, particularly during the time that Biden's been President, you have to have come to the conclusion that this has not only been ignored on purpose but allowed to happen for nefarious reasons. Incompetence like this can NOT be done with the flip of a coin; it has to be done with deliberate thought and determination.
Fast forward to yesterday, and I came across an article from my compadre Kurt Schlichter from our sister site Townhall who wrote this: We Are Sitting Ducks and Our Leaders Do Not Care, and as usual he hits the bullseye with his own unique flair.
First, Kurt warmed up with a spot-on description of Scranton Joe:
Why am I worried? Because what I’m writing about now is the deadly threat that our incompetent elite, led by that senile, corrupt, dust puppet masquerading as our president, have allowed to fester in our country.
Then he got to the crux of the issue as he saw it.
Oh, now I’m just a pundit, albeit one who actually has a little experience doing things, and it is not beyond the realm of pundit possibility that a commentator may exaggerate for effect. So ignore what I say. Ignore this heartfelt warning that our country is vulnerable to a massive insider threat made up of illegal aliens who have walked across the open border and can, at the time of their own choosing, decide to slaughter mass numbers of Americans. Put aside that it has happened before, from 9/11 to San Bernardino to the Pulse nightclub, and for all we know, in Las Vegas, because the FBI is too busy arresting scary grandmas for praying outside abortion clinics to figure out what the hell happened there.
Scary grandmas praying outside of an abortion clinic can be a menace, of course. How we don't yet know, but a helpful government pamphlet has to be on the way to explain as I write.
Kurt goes on to correctly assert something that the Modern Age Americans have been trained to forget. Americans at one time were all brought up to be somewhat rugged individuals.
The term rugged individualism could have been used in yesteryear to describe a large swath of Americans who were able to do just about anything around the house, like build and fix the things that needed to be used during daily life. They could grow their own food and trade for the things that they didn't grow or raise and feed.
And that included protecting your family and your property from those who were planning harm or worse. Now we are a nation of ordering things to show up the next day from Amazon or calling the police to handle simple disputes.
If any form of terrorist attack comes to this nation, and it will come, how are you prepared to handle that?
Millions of people have streamed across the border, and we have no idea who many of them are or where they came from, so the chances are it won't be just a day of attacks like on 9/11—it'll be multiple attacks around the country like Hamas and Hezbollah are inflicting on Israel right now.
As Kurt says in the headline of his article above, we are sitting ducks, and our leaders don't care, so what are you prepared to do to make sure you're not just a sitting duck waiting to have one of the Robertson Clan shoot you?
That is no knock on the Duck Dynasty people, I love that show and those folks will be fine under any circumstance with whatever happens around the country.
Now this is not meant to scare you or use hyperbole, but to follow up on what Kurt was saying.
Society and politeness will break down incredibly fast when fear sets in or when you're 911 call to the police gets you a busy signal or no response because the public service sector is overwhelmed. There is only so much you can depend on from your government in a crisis, and they can barely deliver cheese and water at times—even when they had days to prepare like for a hurricane.
The welfare of you and your family is ultimately your responsibility. You can't be looking at what's happening around the world and down at the southern border and come to a logical conclusion that this is normal. Something bad is bound to happen, and in the times of old, the rugged individualist in America rose to the challenge and forged away through the hard times.
The only difference between those days back in time and today is that they lived hard times every day, and you and I are frankly both kind of soft.
Except for my colleague Ward Clark; the dude lives in Alaska so he has the depending on yourself thing down pat.
You may think I'm a bit off about this, but this documentary HERE opened my eyes to what would happen if we lost electricity for six months, and it changed the way I look at things. Our mindset is for things to be fixed in a short amount of time and when they're not, we feel inconvenienced and whine about it the whole time.
If America is targeted in multiple ways, it will be a long time till help arrives in many parts of the country because it is so vast, so it is up to you to think about it now rather than wait for someone to help later who might never answer the call.
Give some thought to this and do as Kurt suggests above, exercise your God-given 2nd amendment right to bear arms.
