In the absence of hard data available to make a coherent argument against President Trump and his administration's policies, the Democrat Party is all too willing to just make stuff up. And that's typically because the facts just aren't on their side.
We're seeing that play out in real time with the "Seditious Six" scandal, in which a group of Democrat senators made a video calling on military service members to refuse to carry out any "illegal orders" issued by their superiors. Their lack of proof that any such "illegal orders" have been – or are currently being – handed down didn't make them think twice about making such an assertion; no, the mere idea that Trump might do something illegal was good enough for these very serious people to accuse him of it.
I believe we call this phenomenon "wishcasting":
To interpret information or a situation in a way that casts it as favorable or desired, despite the fact that there is no evidence for such a conclusion.
And, now, we have another line of preposterous conclusions coming from the left, and this time it's all about the Trump administration's efforts to clear American communities of illegal immigrants, particularly those with criminal histories. Let's state the obvious here: anyone here illegally is a criminal. Full stop, not up for debate.
The administration made it clear from the get-go that getting violent illegals off the streets was its top priority, and they've been delivering on that big time. According to Tricia McLaughlin, spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), 70% of illegals taken into federal custody "have active criminal charges or criminal convictions."

That inconvenient fact didn't stop Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) from publicly bemoaning that federal law enforcement officials – and Trump, in particular – have been "targeting peaceful immigrants." His proof? Some extremely questionable analysis from a Cato Institute wonk that seemed to show only 5% of illegals detained since October 1 had violent criminal convictions.
Tricia McLaughlin wasn't having any of it, calling the analysis "propaganda" and saying Sen. Murphy's "peaceful immigrants" claim was "so dumb it hurts my soul."
This is so dumb it hurts my soul.

This is a made up pie chart with no legitimate data behind it—just propaganda to undermine the brave work of @DHSgov law enforcement and fool Americans.

That doesn’t even include those wanted in another country for a crime, gang members, known/suspected terrorists, wanted by INTERPOL, human rights abusers. The list goes on.
By the way, every single one of these illegal aliens broke our nation’s laws by being in the country illegally.
First fun fact: no conviction in the United States does not equal no conviction in their home country. Why do you think so many of them fled here? Second fun fact: they're all criminals – every one of them – having crossed illegally into the U.S. As always, McLaughlin does a masterful job of setting the record straight.
Prepare yourself for more of this insipid rhetoric from Democrats – they love to embarrass themselves by butchering the meaning behind the holidays. Thanksgiving is all about oppression, colonization, and historical grievance, and Christmas, of course, is all about Jesus being an illegal immigrant. Anything to score political points.
The left’s desperate need to rewrite reality to fit their narrative is as obvious as it is pathetic. Out here in the real world, though, facts still matter. And the fact is that Americans voted to deport illegals, and President Trump is doing just that.
Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
