It's been a mystery that has haunted observers for the nearly ten months since Donald Trump took the oath of office and began his second term as president: what in the world did Barron Trump whisper to former President Joe Biden in the moments after the Inauguration Day swearing-in?
If you'll recall, Barron stood that day alongside his mother, Melania, and his half-siblings as they gathered around the podium in the Capitol Rotunda to watch their husband and father be officially sworn into office by Chief Justice John Roberts. Things got interesting after the completion of the oath and before the inaugural address began; as the crowd applauded and various family members hugged, Barron walked over to Biden and delivered a short message to the now-former president.

The brief interaction probably would have mostly gone unnoticed if it weren't for Biden's reaction. Biden had a smile on his face as Barron leaned in, shook his hand, and whispered whatever it was he said; that smile was quickly replaced with a more bemused look, as if the former president just heard something unpleasant.

Once this clip hit social media, speculation was off the charts ... and quite hilarious. Conservatives, high off of Trump's return to the White House, had a great time envisioning all kinds of scenarios, with many concluding Trump's youngest child had a "gangster" aura about him after he delivered his greeting to Biden.
A thread on X asking for wrong answers only yielded some amusing guesses:
- "You forgot to pardon yourself."
- "Hello, My name is Barron Trump, You tried to kill my father..."
- "Keep your goons out of my closets."
- "Money laundering ends now."
One site even brought in a lip reader to decipher what was said.
A professional lip reader, who analyzed the viral clip circulating on TikTok and Twitter, finally spilled the beans on what Barron reportedly whispered to Biden.
Forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman revealed that – before the handshake – the charming first son and the former president were exchanging some niceties.
Speaking with The Mirror, Freeman said that Barron told Biden “G’day to you sir,” and then greeted Harris with “Ma’am, good day.”
The online community wasn’t surprised the teenager approached Biden with class: “He would never say anything disrespectful!!” writes one. “He wouldn’t [be rude] to him. He [has] too much class,” offers a second, while a third writes, “That young man is epic!”
Next, breaking down what was said in the alleged whisper that created so much noise on the internet, the same lip reader told LADbible that he believes Biden first told Barron: “It’s good to see you man.” And the youngest of the Trumps responded: “Exactly” – a bizarre reply that could explain Biden’s unexpected change in expression.
It turns out they all got it wrong, at least according to Barron's big brother, Eric. During an appearance on Megyn Kelly's live show in Florida last week, Eric Trump very proudly revealed that Barron said something "so polite" during the interaction with Biden.
Eric, like many of us, had to know what was said.
“One night I call Barron and I go, ‘Buddy, what did you actually say?’ And it was something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right,” Eric recounted to Kelly.
“But like, ‘Congratulations, and best of luck to you,’ or something like that. Something very respectable,” Eric revealed.
There you have it – mystery solved. Barron Trump is polite young man who took the time to greet Joe Biden in a moment that was undoubtedly awkward for Biden as he made the swift transition to "former president." When asked by Kelly who was the nicest Trump, Eric replied, "My father’s pretty tough and Barron is young — he’s not old enough to be a jerk and get away with it."
