We are reaching DEFCON 1 levels of Trump Derangement Syndrome with Joy Reid these days. We're talking intervention levels at this point; funny farm stuff.
As readers of RedState well know, Reid is obsessed with the former and future president of the United States, to the point of incoherent babbling about his every move. And, boy, has she been on a tear since the election, blaming blacks and Hispanics for voting in their own best interests, suggesting Kamala Harris supporters cut off their Trump-voting family and friends, and castigating black women for not wanting to "save America."
It's a downward spiral of epic proportions, and it's not without its consequences. For instance, her own network also finds itself in a not-unrelated free fall as its audience abandons it in great numbers. Things are so bad there that Elon Musk has joked about stepping in and buying the network in order to save it from itself.
When she's not busy doing her part to help MSNBC tank in the ratings, Joy Reid can be found circling the drain with her increasingly paranoid hot takes on President-elect Donald Trump. Her most recent descent into madness, weirdly, was over the patently absurd idea that Trump would annex Canada, make it the 51st state, and demote Justin Trudeau to the lowly position of governor.
She seemed honest-to-god freaked out about it, but then again, Joy Reid inhabits the world of the patently absurd.
Her proof that an annexation of Canada was at hand? An AI meme Trump posted to Truth Social.
HAHAHAHA Joy Reid is melting down over Trump joking about annexing Canada and threatening Hamas

Let's break down her deranged commentary into pieces. First, the weird framing of Donald Trump as a "gangster." Only in the world of the devoutly Democrat media is a strong leader seen as a criminal.
We are seeing a global trend of the far-right surging. It isn't just happening here, but let's bring you back to here, to the U.S., to our local gangster, Donald Trump.
He's not even president yet, but he's already spending his time sitting in his golden palace, Mar-a-Lago, muzzling other countries like he's Tony Soprano with a social media site. Doing things like, reportedly, debating whether or not to invade Mexico, threatening BRICs countries -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- with 100% tariffs if they don't commit to trading in dollars and not their own currencies.
Then there's the clearly antisemitic moaning about Trump demanding that the hostages in Gaza be released before he takes office. Who, besides Joy Reid, thinks that's a bad thing? She'd rather they not be released? Does she even listen to herself?
Demanding Hamas release all hostages being held in Gaza before his inauguration or there will be "all hell to pay" in the Middle East.
Finally, she got to the subject of Canada. Note how very seriously she takes the topic.
According to Fox, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went to Mar-a-Lago this weekend to try to talk Trump out of his 25 percent tariff threat, Trump apparently suggested that if Canada can't handle the tariffs that would violate the NAFTA upgrade that Trump himself signed into law, the USMCA, they should just become the 51st state. Just become the 51st instead, allow Justin Trudeau to be reduced to governor of the state of Canada. Which caused Trudeau and others to laugh nervously. And while some are just writing that off as a joke, just a few hours ago Trump posted this obviously AI photo of him standing on a mountaintop, next to the Canadian flag, looking off into the distance, with the caption: "Oh, Canada!"
It was a joke. We all knew it was joke. It's quite obviously a joke, but the Joy Reid brand of "journalism" has devolved into fact-checking silly memes and reporting them as facts. She takes the bait every time.
This isn't normal behavior, even for the Joy Reids of the world. This isn't the blatant partisanship and biases so often displayed at MSNBC and other leftist outlets. This isn't simple "orange man bad" rhetoric. This isn't left vs. right. This isn't even just plain bad journalism. This is a one-way ticket on the Hot Mess Express to Crazytown, and Joy is sat firmly in the front seat. And the best part is that Donald Trump is the train conductor.
