Nearly one million illegals who obtained temporary legal status under a Biden program have been told to leave the US "immediately." One of the schemes developed by the Biden White House to give the impression of caring about our chaotic borders was allowing illegals to use a smartphone app called CBP One. This app was used to schedule immigration appointments and allow illegals to work in the US while awaiting their appointment.

Tuesday, users of the CBP One app got an unexpected message: "Time's up. Leave the US immediately or face arrest."

The Trump administration is revoking the legal status of migrants who entered the U.S. via the Biden-era CBP One app, instructing them to leave the immediately or face arrest.

Another pressure point being applied along with the order to self-deport is the announcement that the Trump administration plans on reinstating a $998 per day fine on illegals and seizing their property to pay the fines. The fine will be applied retroactively up to five years. As Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said when announcing the self-deportation notices, "If they don’t, they will face the consequences. This includes a fine of $998 per day for every day that the illegal alien overstayed their final deportation order.”

Homeland Security warned this would happen, along with a $5,000 fine for telling the government you were self-deporting then reneging on the agreement.

The sweetener is that if you self-deport, you can take your cash, you may qualify for subsidized airfare, and you are eligible to reenter the US legally in the future.

As all of this is happening, the Trump administration is revoking the Temporary Protected Status of about a half million illegals — citizens of Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Cuba — who either obtained TPS or had their existing status extended under Biden.

Taken as a complete picture, I think we can see the outlines of a "shock and awe" campaign to both stop illegal border crossing and create a climate where many illegals will voluntarily leave the country. The high-profile roundups and flights to Guantanamo and El Salvador grab the attention. Cutting off benefits and the ability to legally work will make life much more difficult. 

The message is clear. The US policy of looking the other way as illegals take up residence in the US that has been in effect for at least 50 years is over.

A country that cannot or will not control its borders ultimately ceases to exist.
