If you want an example of how physical courage can be accompanied by moral gutlessness….

Scott Kelly is a retired astronaut. This is how he describes himself:

Scott Kelly is a former military fighter pilot and test pilot, an engineer, a retired astronaut, and a retired U.S. Navy captain. A veteran of four space flights, Kelly commanded the International Space Station (ISS) on three expeditions and was a member of the yearlong mission to the ISS. In October 2015, he set the record for the total accumulated number of days spent in space, the single longest space mission by an American astronaut.

He seems to also be a stereotypical progressive who was triggered by Brett Kavanaugh being confirmed to the Supreme Court and the Happy Dance many of us on the right were doing on Chuck Schumer’s desk.

I don’t have a problem with that. F*** these people, but if getting their asses kicked helps teach them a little respect for other folks, then I’m happy when that particular thought hits them. It probably won’t stop me from tap dancing through their funeral procession next time. Or the time after that. But when I really feel like the lesson has been internalized I will stop. And quoting Churchill is never bad. A drunk Churchill was more insightful than most sober politicians.

In Kelly’s mentions though, he starts getting dragged over quoting Churchill.

And this is how he responds:

Are you sh***ing me? You are going to apologize for using a Churchill quote because some randos on Twitter get their panties wadded? And not only apologize, you’re going to submit yourself to a re-education program to remedy your WrongThink?

Physical courage is all well and good but unless it is mated with the virtue of moral courage it is useless. And likewise, the people who have it.
