Today, President Trump paid a visit to view the disaster and the recovery efforts along Texas’s Gulf Coast. A couple of days ago some in the media were asking when he would visit Texas, once he announced many were saying he’d just be in the way and obstructing work that needed to be done. In short, it was a typical heads-I-win-tales-you-lose game.

When Trump and the First Lady left the White House this morning, this is how she looked:

This is what the media glommed on to:

After Ms Trump emerged from the White House on Tuesday morning wearing black stilettos, black capris, a green jacket and aviator sunglasses, reports emerged mocking the First Lady’s attire.

The Mirror called her outfit “the most inappropriate clothes imaginable” in a headline, while the Daily Beast suggested that she had “waterproofed” the shoes before heading off to Corpus Christi with her husband Donald Trump.

All of this caused Melania Trump’s office to push back a bit:

I have to confess to neither being a woman nor having every worn heels. I don’t claim to be familiar with the nuances of how/when women change clothes. But I have traveled (too) extensively on business. Traveling dressed one way and changing at your destination is hardly a new concept. If Melania Trump was riding a Zodiac boat in Corpus Christi in stilettos, I’d be down with the criticism. But leaving the White House in appropriate attire and arriving in Texas in appropriate attire seems entirely like something one would expect of someone with Melania’s background. But if she’d left the White House in the hat/shirt/walking shoes she had on when she arrived, you know the same nimrods would be saying something critical, only it would be different.

If we have not reached peak stupidity, we are certainly within striking distance.
