Leaked Transcripts: Kerry Collaborated With Palestinians On Israel Condemnation

Secretary of State John Kerry waves to members of the audience as he departs after speaking at the State Department in Washington, Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016. Stepping into a raging diplomatic argument, Kerry staunchly defended the Obama administration's decision to allow the U.N. Security Council to declare Israeli settlements illegal and warned that Israel's very future as a democracy is at stake. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)

On Monday, Israel’s ambassador to the United States stated that Israel has ironclad proof that the United States worked with the Palestinians to draft and pass a UN Resolution condemning Israel for building settlements in its own territory, in particular, in Jerusalem. Now the source is becoming more clear.

For two days now the state-managed Egyptian press has published documents which seem to show Secretary of State John Kerry, in his inbred and incompetent way, stage managing a UN condemnation of Israel in order to pursue polices that have failed for several decades.

Egyptian paper published what it claims are the transcripts of meetings between top US and Palestinian officials that, if true, would corroborate Israeli accusations that the Obama administration was behind last week’s UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements.

At the same time, a report in an Israeli daily Tuesday night pointed to Britain helping draft the resolution and high drama in the hours leading up to the vote, as Jerusalem tried to convince New Zealand to bury the Security Council measure.

In a meeting in early December with top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, US Secretary of State John Kerry told the Palestinians that the US was prepared to cooperate with the Palestinians at the Security council, Israel’s Channel 1 TV said, quoting the Egyptian Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper.

Also present at the meeting according to the report were US National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and Majed Faraj, director of the Palestinian Authority’s General Intelligence Service.

White House national security council spokesman Ned Price on Wednesday told the Times of Israel that no such meeting took place. “The ‘transcript’ is a total fabrication,” he said.

While the State Department confirmed meetings that Erekat and a Palestinian delegation had with Kerry and separately with Rice, no tripartite meeting between all of them took place, according to Price.

Kerry is quoted as saying that he could present his ideas for a final status solution if the Palestinians pledge they will support the proposed framework. The US officials advised the Palestinians to travel to Riyadh to present the plan to Saudi leaders.

Again, we’re parsing words here to determine what happened. The White House says the meeting didn’t happen. State says, yeah, the meeting happened, but Rice wasn’t there for a three-way (and combining “three-way” and Susan Rice in the same sentence is enough to gag a maggot in a corpse’s armpit).

On the other hand, Egypt was originally going to introduce the resolution but its president, al-Sisi, did Donald Trump a favor and pulled it after Trump objected. Al-Sisi has every incentive to embarrass Obama (assuming that is possible) to ingratiate himself with Trump. Who to believe?

The body of the evidence, in my opinion, says that the documents reflect what actually happened and the Obama administration is lying through its teeth. Obama has been unremittingly hostile to Israel to the extent of overtly meddling in Israel’s election to defeat Netanyahu, this, of course, was before it became totally uncool to meddle in elections. Kerry has long been anti-Israel and his speech today was little short of raw anti-Semitism (imagine, if you will, Kerry claiming a country can’t be Islamic and democratic rather than Jewish and democratic). Kerry masterminding this nonsense is exactly what we would expect him to do.
