Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.
TOP O' THE MORNIN'
Red-Hot at RedState
If the Democrat AG let the investigation proceed unhindered, confident in the official, certified results, then a finding that concurs with his assessment would restore confidence in the ballot-counting process. To do otherwise is what actually sows doubt.
It's Over: Powerful North Carolina Senate Leader Concedes GOP Primary Race in Shocking Defeat
In any event, what's done is done. Though Berger's legacy will live on in North Carolina politics for decades to come, it remains to be seen just how much his departure at the end of this year will change how business is done on the state senate side of things, not to mention what the possible national implications could be of losing a power player of his immense stature.
Elon Musk Is Moving Fast Because the US Chip System Is Broken
Terafab does not solve that overnight. The project will take years to build, and the United States is still working to catch up after decades of relying on foreign production. The supply chain the United States depends on is under strain, and in some cases, it is being bypassed altogether.
Trending Across Townhall Media
Bearing Arms — Judge Delivers Beautiful Response to D.C.'s Plea to Fast Track Appeal of Magazine Ban Decision
The bottom line is that D.C. is a much safer place than it was when the unconstitutional magazine ban was being enforced, and the Constitution and common sense both side with the appeals court panel that struck down the District's arbitrary limit on magazine capacity. I don't know if an en banc panel will keep that decision in place, but I know that it should.
Hot Air — California Attorney General Desperate to Quash Investigation of Potential Mass Voter Fraud
It is remarkable to me that so many people shrug when they hear of these things. No developed country has election security as lax as the United States. The Democrats like it that way.
PJ Media — Too Little, Too Late? NY Times Now Worried About 'Out of Touch' Democrats.
The rise of the noisy progressives in the Democratic Party has pulled the old guard establishment types more to the left than they're admitting to themselves. They're so far out there that they couldn't find the political center with GPS and a team of Sherpa guides.
Townhall — This Deep State Clown Humiliated Himself on CNN...and Then Doubled Down
Look, we watch this stuff so you don’t have to, but it’s funny watching these idiots get tossed into the woodchipper. They know nothing, but act like they’re the key players in what’s going on today.
God, these theater kids are fragile.
Twitchy — Gavin Newsom Discovers Zionism Overnight — Now Facing Fury From Hasan Piker and His Own Lefty Base
The Left is eating each other.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
It's a busy, busy Wednesday on the Hill, with multiple hearings/meetings set, including:
- Senate Energy and Natural Resources — Hearings to examine the state of the bulk power system.
- House Science, Space, and Technology, Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee — The Future of Low Earth Orbit: From the ISS to Commercial Platforms
- House Appropriations, Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee — Oversight Hearing - U.S. Office of Personnel Management
- House Homeland Security — “Funding Lapse and Security Gaps: Assessing the Harmful Impacts of the DHS Shutdown on Americans”
- House Small Business — “Defending Main Street: Combating CCP Threats to America’s Small Businesses.”
- Senate Budget — Hearings to examine Social Security, focusing on a discussion on the facts and the path forward.
- House Appropriations, Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee — Oversight Hearing – National Weather Service
- Joint Economic Committee — Hearings to examine the rising global scam economy, focusing on modernizing federal approaches to protect Americans from foreign fraudsters.
- House Natural Resources, Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee — Oversight Hearing titled “Unleashing America’s Mineral Potential: The Critical Mineral Commodity Supply Chain.”
- Senate Judiciary, Constitution Subcommittee — Hearings to examine protecting American citizenship, focusing on federalism, sanctuary cities, and the rule of law.
- House Armed Services, Strategic Forces Subcommittee — National Security Space Programs and Activities
And...they're still wrangling over DHS funding. Seems like one step forward, two steps back. In fact, as noted above, the House is holding a hearing today on the impact of the shutdown.

Keeping Up With the Cabinet
Sec. Commerce - Howard Lutnick — On Tuesday, Lutnick met with Micron Technology CEO Sanjay Mehotra. Micron is building a semiconductor memory chip manufacturing facility in New York that is expected to create 50,000 jobs.
Today, Secretary Lutnick met with @MicronCEO Sanjay Mehrotra.

Earlier this year, @MicronTech broke ground on the largest memory manufacturing facility in U.S. history with a $100 billion investment in New York, creating 50,000 jobs. America is building again under President… pic.twitter.com/iBg73nYjXo
Full Court Press...
The Supreme Court is hearing oral argument in one case today:
- Flower Foods, Inc. v. Brock — Are workers who deliver locally goods that travel in interstate commerce-but who do not transport the goods across borders nor interact with vehicles that cross borders-"transportation workers" "engaged in foreign or interstate commerce" for purposes of the Federal Arbitration Act's § 1 exemption?
And this development caught my eye yesterday — it isn't a court ruling, but check it out:
- ✅ In Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension v. Noem (access to evidence re: Pretti shooting), plaintiffs file notice of voluntary dismissal.
(We're calling that one a win on principle.)
COMING ATTRACTIONS
As noted above, President Trump is set to address the National Republican Congressional Committee this evening — one suspects he may have some interesting remarks.
Also, the president is set to deliver remarks at the FII PRIORITY Summit in Miami, Florida, on Friday.
MORNING MUSING
I'm a bit pressed for time this morning, so I'm keeping the Musing quite brief. This might belong in the pantheon of tweets. It's got just the right mix of dark humor, clever bite, and wry understatement. I like it.
I don't know whether you guys are history buffs, but this is quite a turnabout for both parties https://t.co/PrrWyWmBHg
