The Monarez Senate Testimony and the Ploy to Derail Changes to the Childhood Vaccine Schedule

Monarez came off as duplicitous, self-righteous, and just as untrustworthy as Kennedy painted her in his testimony before the Senate Finance Committee earlier in September.

Aside from the disgusting comments in the wake of Kirk's killing, the Squad member has been accused of repeated anti-Semitism, and once dismissed the 9/11 terror attacks as "some people did something."

Other than that, she's a charming patriot.

Tipping Point: Chaos Erupts on Capitol Hill After Tlaib's Dangerous Comments About Republicans

Given that all these blowups happened just days apart, one has to wonder if we are approaching some kind of tipping point for Democrats. Republicans have had it with going along to get along.

You Can Smell the Desperation

It’s early yet, so we have no substantial data from which to draw, but the effect of all this on the voter registrations cannot be looking good for Democrats.

Rachel played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. She was ratioed into oblivion. Sadly, she probably doesn't possess the self-awareness to realize how badly she embarrassed herself.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

No meetings or hearings are set for Friday on the Hill (though it's been quite the busy week for them), but it will be a big day nonetheless. The House will be voting mid-morning on a continuing resolution to fund the government until November 21.

On Thursday, the Senate confirmed 48 of President Trump's nominees in one vote. They also unanimously agreed to designate October 14 (his birthday) as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.

Full Court Press...

The Trump administration has filed an application for stay in the Supreme Court on the Lisa Cook removal (from her role as a Federal Reserve governor) case. Won't surprise me if we see an order on that sometime today.

There were a couple of decisions of note on Thursday, including:

  • ✅ Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. v. Kennedy (defunding Planned Parenthood pursuant to OBBB) — 1st Circuit Court of Appeals DENIES plaintiffs' motion for reconsideration of its prior stay order.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

As noted above, we've got a vote on a CR coming up in the House. Assuming that passes, there will be a showdown in the Senate over it.

Also, as noted, the memorial service for Charlie Kirk will be held on Sunday.

But just for the moment. I'm sure I'll be back with some incisive and witty observations come next week. For now, this is what I'm hearing in my mind:
